Roland DS30A Powered 24-Bit Digital Reference Monitor

These are very nice alternatives to the DS-50 or DS-90 Roland studio monitors, and are the only one of the three that are made in Japan (the DS-50s and DS-90s are made in the USA).

Needless to say the ergonomic quality and mechanical materials are top-notch, being as though these are probably the only small powered monitors made in Japan that are sold here in the USA.

However I would strongly reccommend using heavy duty 36" monitor stands with at least a 11" top plate (i.e. Quiklok's BS-336) and making sure the DS-30s do not move or vibrate.
Because of the light weight of these monitors, they should be secured to the base of the monitor stands tightly, or if on a firm surface use the Aurelex MoPad foam wedges.

Soundwise these are excellent and do not dissapoint.
The 30-watt rating may be very conservative (I would say they are just as or more powerful than their brother the DS-50s).

I have previously owned a pair of Roland
KC-100s keyboard amps (60-watts RMS), and can say that the DS-30s are just as loud as the
KC-100s yet have better clarity.

It is hard to believe that monitors this small and lightweight can practically vibrate furniture when cranked up to the maximum settings.

These monitors are an example of the kind of product Roland should be producing more of.
I also own a Roland FP-3 Digital Piano which is another great value that most people do not know about!!
