I always buy new drum heads. Maybe around once to twice a month I'll buy a new set of heads. I rarely buy new bass drum heads because they're extremely expensive. I decided to buy a Powerstroke Pro head for my 22'' bass. Looks-wise, I was impressed. I previously had a stock PDP factory bass drum head that came with my Concept Maple kit, and a Deep Vintage Aquarian head I got for free from an Aquarian drum rep. I liked the stock head, but wanted to find something wetter and fatter. I spent over $40 for the Powerstroke Pro head, and was not impressed at all. As a matter of fact, I am mad I spent all that money on it. It's not responsive at all. Second, it is the quietest bass drum head I've ever heard. I can barely hear my bass when I play. It's not a quick, high-attack head. It's like instead of that quick POP, it sounds like air. Now remember, sound is subjective. What I don't like you might love. But if you are looking for a deep, wet, fat sound, I recommend a different head.
