Randall Thrasher 412 Guitar Speaker Cabinet (400 Watts, 4x12")

Project huge sound with this rugged cabinet. Loaded with Celestion G12H100s, this cab perfectly complements the beastly high-gain tones of the Thrasher head.

To match the thunder of the Thrasher head, the Randall Thrasher 412 is specifically designed to offer a tight focused tone with low end that holds together. This 412A "angled" version works as the top for the full stack but also as the bottom for a half stack and is different than the straight version in that it is closed with no front porting.

The Randall specific Celestion G12H100 is the perfect speaker to compliment the performance of the Thrasher head and was used in voicing the amp.

I got this cabinet because I was looking for something that could handle the power of my Blackstar Series One 200 watt head. This was the perfect solution. I'm used to playing with a 1960a cabinet and it simply cannot handle the cleans. I'm otherwise fond of G12T-75 speakers for leads.

Sound
The cleans with this OEM ordered celestion are really something. These speakers really shimmer with the cleans. I realize this cab is marketed to modern metal players, but you could play Mark Knopfler licks with this thing. Mids are not as scooped as a G12T-75, but there is a slight scoop. An adjustment at the amp, gets me into similar territory. Although the speakers are not fully broken in yet, I can't imagine that I won't continue to like them. Leads also sing with this amp. Not too harsh, but I do like a lot of treble.

Features
This cab comes with casters. Maybe not the best casters in the world, but at least Randall has the sense to provide them. I need casters on my cabs for moving them around in the studio. I also like that the speakers are mounted on the same plane, so even htough its angled, you can mic top and bottom for stereo and not get any phasing issues like you might have with a Marshall 1960a.

Quality
This thing weighs a ton around 110 pounds shipping weight. It seems very solid to me. I don't know if it would survive a world tour being MDF, but it certainly read more seems solid. The corners are metal and the grill is metal. Its very well built from all that I can see. The grill even has rubber fasteners in the center to prevent vibration from the front mounted speakers.

Value
Value is one reason why I bought this cabinet. I could have paid more for a competing cab with slightly different 400 watt speakers from Celestion, but they didn't come with casters. A real wood cabinet would be better arguably, but then again my old Marshall cab wasn't built all that well and is getting a bit creaky in its old age.

Manufacturer Support
I have not dealt with Randall before and this is my first product from them. I know they market only to metal players now, but I do want to give them props for making a cab that just about anyone can benefit from. If you don't mind the look, it will do the job for you if you need a higher wattage cab and you don't have time to rewire your current cab or in my case, simply didn't want to change a vintage piece of gear.

The Wow Factor
I was a little worried that the look of the cab would be a little too aggro for my taste, but it looks way better in person and it looks great with a variety of heads sitting on it. Even the ladies who have seen it in the studio admired it and they never say anything about a 1960a!
