Trust the QSC GX7 power amp to drive your passive PA. No fancy bells and whistles here -- just plenty of reliable QSC power for a practical price.

The QSC GX7 amplifier is the highest-wattage power amp in the much-acclaimed QSC GX line. To 8 ohm speakers, it delivers 725 watts of output in a 2-channel speaker system, and 800 watts in a single channel output. To 4 ohm speakers, it delivers 1000 watts of output when driving a 2-channel setup, and 1200 watts as a single channel output. The QSC GX7 is a true 2-tier Class H amplification system, achieving superior heat gain management and the peerless audio quality that we have come to expect from QSC. At this wattage and size, the QSC GX7 would be can handle pretty much anything you want throw at it. It would be ideal for driving the full-range sound system for a medium-sized club or venue, or a 3 or 4-piece band.

I/O Designed for Contemporary Applications

The GX Series amplifiers are designed with an I/O intended to be useful for the greatest number of contemporary musicians and DJs. It features a single balanced XLR and 1/4-inch TRS on BOTH channels. It also has RCA phono connectors to hook up with whatever other audio source you may be running through this amp. A 100 Hz LF/HF Crossover switch allows you to toggle to and from Full Range mode.

The GX3 also features a Speakon combo XLR/TRS connector on each channel with 2-pole and 4-pole plugs. There are also positive/negative binding posts here to cover all other speaker wiring configurations.

GuardRail: QSC's Proprietary Heat and Volume Gain Limiter

Every amplifier in the GX Series makes excellent use of its read more onboard GuardRail system, which combines Clip Limiting and Thermal Limiting into a single active system. QSC intelligently recognized that most power amps are used at the highest possible output at all times, and that clipping derived from heat gain or speaker overdrive should be taken for granted as a problem facing most users.

Its unique design works by measuring the onset of clipping, showing you the peak level via the Clip LED light. It automatically factors the variables of Load Impedance, AC voltage, and power supply and compensates in kind. This way, a milder triggering of the Clip LED does not necessarily trigger the Clip Limiting. Instead, the GX amps target heavy and prolonged clipping, causing a "slow" limiter to gradually reduce the dynamics until the amount of clipping is deemed reasonable. This design aims to do better than other peak limiters by seeking not to eliminate ALL clipping -- but only to intervene as gently as possible on excessive peaks and distortion. This avoids the dramatic and unpleasant "drop out" moments created by other powered speakers that effect substantial gain decreases at the first sign of clipping.

The GX Series also utilizes this feature to compensate for overheating. In such situations, the gain is gradually reduced to prevent the need for thermal muting. Overall, the GX Series does better than other power amps by limiting peak clipping only as much is as absolutely necessary.

The Essence Of Strength and Portability

The QSC GX3 is made of an all-steel case, in a minimum-depth chassis. It will fit in any compact rack mount.

QSC GX7 Power Amplifier

Pushing 725 watts x 2 channels into 8 ohms, or 1000 watts x 2 channels into 4 ohms, the QSC GX7 will very capably power many of today's popular subwoofers or PA speakers.

The GX7 adds the road-proven PowerLight supply to the Class H output section, for more overall output power and additional weight savings. The result is one of the highest power-to-weight ratios in the industry. A low-noise variable-speed fan with rear-to-front airflow keeps amplifiers and racks cool.

GX Series amplifiers are ideal for professional entertainers who require maximum performance and portability on a limited budget. The hallmarks of the QSC brand -- professional audio quality, meticulous engineering, precision manufacturing and long-term reliability -- are all intrinsic to GX. Add contemporary styling, multiple input/output options, light weight, and advanced protection circuitry, and the GX Series clearly represents real value -- something everyone can use.

Features:

- Optimized for maximum real-world headroom into 4 ohm and 8 ohm speaker systems
- Inputs: XLR, 1/4" TRS and phono input connectors for compatibility with any source
- Outputs: Speakon(R) combo accepts, 1/4" (TS) plugs or Speakon 2-pole and 4-pole plugs (connects 2 poles only). Binding posts support all other speaker wiring systems
- Minimum depth chassis (10.1"/257 mm) fits in compact, inexpensive effects racks
- Lightweight - GX7 is only 15.5 lbs (7 kg)
- Detented gain controls for precise setting and matching of sensitivity
- GuardRail(TM) automatically protects the amplifier and loudspeakers from damage due to temperature rise or overdrive without shutting down the show
- Front panel LEDs monitor Power, Signal and Clipping
- Subwoofer/Satellite crossover built-in

GX amplifiers deliver just the right amount of power to the most popular speakers used by entertainers. Typically, loudspeaker manufacturers recommend an amplifier with power output equal to the speaker's Program (Music) Power rating or two times (2 x) the Continuous (RMS) Power rating.

The GX7's 1000 watts will very capably power many of today's popular subwoofers or two typical 8 ohm speakers per channel.

As always, GX Series amplifiers are fully protected from the usual hazards of the trade, ensuring stable performance and long life.

GuardRail Limiting Protects Your Speakers

GuardRail protection delivers full peak power while preventing detrimental overloads. During excessive clipping, or extreme overheating, GuardRail reduces gain just enough to preserve the integrity of the music, protect the speakers and keep the audience excited, without unprofessional distortion levels or shutdowns.

Subwoofer/Satellite Crossover

A subwoofer reduces strain on the full-range speaker, allowing it to play louder, or letting a smaller speaker do the same job. The GX Series supports this mode with a Crossover switch that splits the full-range input entering Ch 1, sending 20 Hz -100 Hz to the sub (Ch 1) and 100 Hz - 20 kHz to the top box (Ch 2). The front panel gain controls balance the sub and top box, while GuardRail optimizes peak power into the sub and top individually, for greater musical impact and dynamic range. I am building a small and portable yet loud PA system for a 3 piece band. I bought this amp to power the fronts, consisting of 2 Peavey 115 speakers, also purchased from zZounds, and a pair of Peavey PR15 subs. I use a small behringer mixer, into a behringer eq, right into this QSC GX7 with the crossover circuit engaged, and it kicks butt!! We use some powered speakers for monitors. I can set my system up in about 20 minutes. This amp is great!!! 1000 watts at 4 into the subs, rated at 400 watts rms each and 1000 watts at 4 ohms to the peavey 115s, also rated at 400 watts each.
