Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator Pedal

No longer available at zZounds
With dual bucket-brigade delay circuits and adjustable LFO and envelope modulation, you can manipulate and contour your guitar delay to defy time and space.

Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator produces a parallel universe of analog time stretching effects with only three knobs and a single switch. Reflecting the fundamental principles of modern atomic physics in pedal form, the Pigtronix Quantum can be in any number of places at once and will change in response to both input and observation.

Pigtronix Quantum utilizes multiple bucket brigade delay lines with independent clocks modulated by a continuous blend of envelope and LFO sources. The corresponding sensitivity, speed and source controls are augmented by a Chorus / Vibe switch which allows the user to choose between pure effect or a mix of clean signal and modulated audio. This eminently flexible, yet easy to use configuration, combined with a TRS stereo output provides numerous sound field configurations for mono, true stereo, wet / dry and wet / dry / wet rigs.

Going well beyond the event horizon of existing modulation pedals, the Pigtronix Quantum slams the classic tones of complex rack units such as the Zappa's MicMix DynaFlanger, Lifeson's TC 1210 Spatial Expander & the venerable Roland Dimension D into a tiny and affordable analog stompbox while also blazing territory that provides a musical analogy to the essential nature of reality itself.

One of the best Chorus pedals I've owned, and I've owned MANY over the past 30 years!
Sound
Thick, lush chorus reminiscent of the CE-1, but with more control. Very low noise in comparison to most chorus pedals. Does not get lost in the mix or smear your tone. Dynamic feature adds a bit of extra life to the FX.
Features
Two knobs and a switch. Minimalist controls, but still quite versatile from light chorus to heavy and thick, or even over the top FX. The dynamic feature can also give you some pretty unique FX.
Ease of Use
The sensitivity knob takes a minute to get used to, but not tough to tackle a 2 knob pedal.
Quality
High quality knobs and switches. Solid metal construction and durable finish.
Value
It is a pricey pedal, but actually cheaper than some of the other "boutique" analog choruses. In the end, you get what you paid for. I bought and sold 2 less expensive choruses in the past few months before buying this one.
The Wow Factor
I certainly don't need a chorus pedal, and have bought and sold them over the years. I've been playing without one for a while, but had wanted an analog chorus for the studio. I tried some of the less expensive ones recently, from EHX and MXR, but found them to be noisy and smear the tone of the guitar. The QTM is different. In a way, it is more hi-if, while still having that lush, thick vintage analog feel to it. It has the same wow factor as my CE-1 that I had 20 years ago....but with less noise and more control.

Musical Background:

30 years playing guitar. Former touring pro, now do studio work and gig occasionally.

Musical Style:

Heavy rock, metal, pop, country, jazz, experimental.
