"Love at first sight!"
Feature:
The volume and tone controls look a bit cheap but nothing that can't be fixed with some replacements.

Quality:
I said the volume and tone controls looked cheap and that's a shame for the guitar with it's gold fittings is utterly beautiful otherwise. It's extremely well made and the finish outstanding and I reckon it could easily stand on it's own against the more expensive guitars of this type. I see no reason why it couldn't be used regularly at gigs but depending on your taste in music.

Value:
The guitar is a steal at $300!!

Desirability:
I had almost despaired after shopping around for similar instruments in this price range, but when I saw the JF 1 in black it was love at first sight!! Can't say more that that. (Change the style of volume and tone controls please!!)

Sound:
It doesn't sound too great on it's own but plugged into an amp it takes on a whole new meaning. If you've been playing only solid guitar like I have then the wider neck takes a bit of getting used to, but if you are looking for a completely different sound then you can't go wrong at the price. It has a deep rich tone - even with factory strings. A set of Gibsons's should enhance it even more but I have no plans to change them at the moment.

Support:
Haven't needed to use the support site yet but if the instrument is representative of Peavey quality then I see no problems.

Overall:
After playing off and on for over forty years this is the last one for me - at least so my wife tells me.........

"PEAVY JF-1"
Feature:
Tuners are the only weak point. Not bad,but a little sloppy. Holds tune well for about an hour, long enough for any session before a break. Easy fix with High grade Grovers.

Quality:
This is a solid, well built guitar for the money. Remember its not a $3000 335, but you can get wonderfull sound with todays amps and effects.

Value:
Worth twice the price...easy!

Desirability:
Gorgeous guitar with gold tuners, pickups. Every time I play it, someone comments on it's attractivness.

Sound:
Stock Humbuckers are outstanding. With the excellent neck playability, this makes for one fine guitar. Blues chords and riffs are awesome, especially using the neck pickup. Good right off of the rack. Have your pro do a proper set up and you will love this guitar. Best for the $ I have had, and I own a Gibson LP studio.

Support:
My local pro is a Peavy dealer. He does free set ups, and deals directly with Peavy. No problem.

Overall:
I alternate using this for chord work and blusy leads, also use my Les Paul a lot for straight rock and Texas blues.
