Peavey IPR2 5000 Power Amplifier

Get serious power from an impressively lightweight power amp! The IPR2 5000 weighs only 7 pounds, yet pushes 890 watts RMS on two channels at 8 ohms.

Lighten your rack load without sacrificing power -- at about 7 pounds, the Peavey IPR2 5000 two-channel power amplifier is seriously slim for a unit of its caliber. Offering 2,525 Watts RMS per channel at 2 ohms, 1,510 Watts RMS on two channels at 4 ohms, or 890 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms, the IPR2 holds nothing back during a performance.

Ultimate Power Trip: Efficient Class D Topology

Driving this powerhouse of amp is its two-channel independent fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley crossovers, a variable-speed fan housed in a lightweight aluminum chassis, DDT speaker protection, IPR Class D topology, and more. Class D amplification systems are generally lighter in weight than other types of amps, since they don't require bulky, heavy fans and heatsinks to keep cool. IPR Class D topology goes a step further, ensuring that the IPR2 5000 runs as efficiently as ever without lessening its output power potential. What's more, IPR Series amplifiers boast a resonant switch-mode power supply for increased efficiency across the board.

Simple I/O and No-Frills Features

The Peavey IPR2 5000's input controls make it easy to dial in your system's levels, and four-pole twist lock output connectors keep things secure. In addition, Peavey's IPR2 5000 offers combination XLR-1/4-inch inputs plus individual signal pass 1/4-inch jacks on each channel. LED-illuminated for clarity in any performance venue, this Peavey power amp sports a handy standby LED power indicator for at-a-glance read more power checks.

Peavey IPR2 5000 Power Amplifier

The Peavey IPR2 5000 boasts 2,525 watts per channel at 2 ohms and is under 13 lbs. Featuring 2 channel independent fourth order Linkwitz-Riley crossovers, a variable-speed fan housed in a lightweight aluminum chassis, DDT speaker protection, and the revolutionary IPR class D topology.

Shaking up the pro audio industry with innovative power amplifier designs has become Peavey's trademark. More than 30 years ago, they were the first to break the $1-per-watt barrier. Now with the Peavey IPR Series, they've pushed technological limits again to bring you an amazingly powerful and efficient power amp for just pennies per watt.

Boasting a net weight as low as 13 lbs., the groundbreaking IPR Series utilizes an advanced design that allows Peavey's engineers to dramatically reduce weight while increasing output power, reliability and thermal efficiency. IPR Series amplifiers are designed with a resonant switch-mode power supply and a high-speed class D topology that yields the highest audio resolution and efficiency available. And all at a cost that shatters the old-guard paradigm of power-amp valuation.

"Three IPR2 amps"

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've purchased three of the IPR2 amps ( 1-3000, 2-5000) and all have been sent in to Peavey for repairs. At first I thought I might have just bought the odd one but all three fails on a regular basis with one being DOA. They have repaired them all more than twice with one three times. I have been getting maybe three uses between failure and I don't drive them hard at all. As a matter of fact I purchased the 5000s because they were more amp than I need and I knew they would be pretty much idling all the time driving two Peavey Impulse 1015s and one amp doing sub duty into a pair of EV ELX118s. I am a Peavey man but these amps have been totally unreliable. I've questioned Peavey about what the issue are with these amps but so far they say there are no issues but with three amps with the same experience I beg the differ.
