Peavey BASIC 112 Bass Combo Amplifier (50 Watts, 1x12 in.) Reviews

"Peavy Basic112 Review"
Feature:
Equalization: +/- 15 db @ 40hz +/- 10 db @ 400hz +/- 10 db @ 2.5khz +/- 15 db @ 15khz Also a +6 boost @ 8khz button. Pregain, gain, efx loop, headphone out, powered out jack. Has all the basics, no fancy effects built in.

Quality:
Solid woofer, electronics look good from the specs, metal grill, corner guards and the thick laminated finish: looks like it can take a beating (weighs about 45 lbs O_o!). The knobs are a little cheap though...

Value:
In terms of value this amp seems a little expensive. Crate and Behringer make similar sized amps with similar features for a little less. Check out the competition before you buy.

Desirability:
It's not by any means ugly, but I don't plan on having this amp bronzed or put in a glass display case. If you are looking for pretty, check out some amps with blue or red woofers and exotic shaped boxes. This amp is 100% practical, it's meant to be used.

Sound:
This amp has plenty of output if you are looking to do small gigs or practice with a drummer, almost overkill for a practice amp though. The sound is good, no nasty spikes in volume on any notes that I can tell. Runs at 50watts RMS, 1% thd, 8ohm speaker.

Support:
Never talked to Peavy.

Overall:
I see this amp lasting a decade or two. I don't plan on doing any shows larger than a coffeehouse so there is no need for me to upgrade later. If this amp were to come up missing, I'd definately replace it, or even downgrade to the 10" model, I bought a little more amp than I really need.

"Great lil starter"
Feature:
Tons of knobs to twist and play with!!!!! I love that feature, lots of ways to change the sound...except when you need to hold the band in a jazz setting... she just doesn't like to play jazz music...

Quality:
It's black... with red trimming.. you're not gonna love her for the looks... you'll love her cuz you can throw her off the roof... or drop her down the stairs at church.. yah... lil paint buff, but she's all good!

Value:
The price is decent... but... you can buy something better.. way better, for bout 50 dollars more...

Desirability:
unfortunately... i'm in a jazz band... therefore... well... I don't want it... if anybody would like to buy a great starter/practice amp email me

Sound:
this bass is not by any means meant to be played in a jazz setting... but for church or just to rock out with your buds go ahead! the lows on this bass are a little fuzzy, but it's a great start up amp. My Ibanez EDA 900 with elixer strings loves this amp.. my fender jazz with flat wounds... well they hate each other... and my jbplayer acoustic sounds amazing on this amp

Support:
She hasn't broken.. therefore... no service needed...

Overall:
man this amp is good for a starter, church, practice, or rock... please... if you play jazz/blues/funk look to an ampeg or fender
