At 120 all-tube watts, Peavey's 6505+ is a beast of an amp head. Grab the knobs to craft earth-shaking tones all your own, from classic rock to modern metal.

The Peavey 6505 Plus guitar amplifier head is essentially a comprehensive upgrade of the relaunched 5150 head -- the famous amp that Peavey designed in collaboration with Edward Van Halen. The 6505 Plus brings a few modern touches to a classic design. It is a fitting commemorative release from Peavey, celebrating their long and highly audible place in the history of hard rock and heavy metal music.

Check out how modern metal artist use the Peavey 6505:

Single Input with Two Independent Channels

The 6505 Plus has a single input that is switchable between two independent channels, either via the front panel or a single tap of the included footswitch. This high-gain monster pays tribute to the classic Peavey amps of the '60s and '70s in a hot and heavy way: it boasts 6 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 x 6L6GC power amp tubes, both specially designed to deliver overtone-rich signal breakup in an overdriven state. This means that the amp itself is a tonal tool in its own right. The front control panel has a bank of highly musical controls that allow you to dial up exactly a wide range of tone, from clean to crunch and back again. Bright and Crunch switches add further tonal possibilities.

Extremely Rich Tone Controls

Controls on the 6505 Plus's front panel include Presence and Resonance, which allow you to tailor the depth and color of your sound with a great degree of range. There is also an exceptionally musical three-band EQ that helps you not only achieve a good read more frequency balance, but explore new tonal characteristics entirely. Each channel is also switchable between Pre Gain and Post Gain outputs. It has an effects loop and preamp output, which is very useful when you want to record its unique tonal properties in a studio situation.

Loud -- Very, Very Loud!

The Peavey 6505 Plus has a formidable output of 120 watts RMS into 16, 8 or 4 ohm cabinets. Even for a 120 watt amplifier, the Peavey 6505 Plus is a notably loud amp. But for all its barking power, the 6505 Plus weighs in just under 50 pounds and is easy to transport.

This amp is amazing. The sounds you can get are just mind blowing. No more distortion pedals are needed and the clean channel has such a great tone. I have always bought Peavey products before but this tops them all. People who say this amp is just for metal have apparently never played with it. I bought this amp with a payment plan and was shocked when I found a better price and Zzounds still beat the price for after the purchase. I was skeptical until they gave me a credit on my payment plan. Couldn't ask for a better site than this one.
