The Paul Reed Smith SE Kingfisher electric bass offers a sleek modern look and a fat sonic punch with its pair of PRS-Designed humbuckers. A swamp ash body gives your notes loads of sustain and a well-balanced sound. A 5-ply maple neck with walnut stripes rests comfortably in your hand with its cozy SE bass neck shape, and independent volume controls for each humbucker allows you to find the perfect blend of the treble and bass pickup to forge your output. Anchoring everything down is this bass's heavy-duty Hipshot bridge and tailpiece, which utilizes a strings-through-body design for a more lucid transfer of sound.

Swamp Ash Body

Swamp ash is a light and porous wood, originating from trees whose roots take hold underwater. Its color tends to be light, with dark grain patterns that are easy on the eyes. Tonally, it brings a lot of resonance to the table, and it offers a pleasant and well balanced overall sound -- firm lows, rounded highs, and a slightly scooped midrange. Swamp ash is a popular wood for rock, country, blues, and metal players, but it works well in pretty much any genre or style of music. It's no wonder bassists love this tonewood!

Warm and Articulate Pair of PRS-Designed Humbuckers

Fire your PRS SE Kingfisher up and hear it purr. An SE 4B "H" Bass humbucker produces a classic-sounding tone with lot of warmth, low end, and midrange. The SE 4B "H" Treble humbucker pickup brings in a little more high-end edge to the mix, allowing you to hear a bit more of read more the attack from your fingers. With both pickups turned up, you get a great setting for slaps -- warm and present lows with just enough high end to brighten things up and cut through the mix. Play around with your Kingfisher's separate volume controls to find the right blend.

Comfortable 5-Ply Maple and Walnut Neck

The SE bass neck shape offers a comfortable modern feel as your hand and fingers navigate their way across this melodious appendage's 24 frets and smooth rosewood fingerboard. Walnut tends to have a sound that's between rosewood and mahogany, with a nice push on the highs and mids and less emphasis on the low end. Maple has a nice brightness to it with a decent helping of snap and bite -- great for slaps and aggressive picking. And with the Kingfisher's neck-through-body construction, this bass delivers sustain for days.

Designed in PRS's Maryland shop, the Kingfisher's offset Swamp Ash body and neck-through construction provide sustain and evenly balanced tone. The 24-fret maple/walnut neck allows unlimited possibilities for your creativity and sonic palette, and the 34" scale length makes this an instantly comfortable bass for players old and new.

Kingfisher (4B 'H') pickups are deep, thick-sounding humbuckers with plenty of top end clarity and punch. These modern pickups have a distinct old-school tonal character that delivers that huge "clacky" tone missing from some modern basses.
