First, I want to thank Zzounds.com for offering Pay As You Play as a payment option. I don't have the best credit and their approval process was easy. Combine that with the fact that I don't have to pay interest and it is a no-brainer and a big benefit to anyone who can make payments but doesn't have the cash up front for a purchase like this one. This option before top notch customer service and a perfect guitar delivered to my door will ensure that I purchase again once I have paid this guitar in full. The first thing that I would say about this guitar is WOW. I have owned multiple other PRS guitars in the past but this guitar surpasses them in tonal quality. I really didn't think that it was even possible, to be quite honest. Before I purchased this guitar I spent 4-5 hours just researching, reading and watching all of the reviews I could find. After watching a youtube review from Jude Gold with him talking about using the guitar all night on the same day he got it while on tour... I was sold. It is hard to put into words the insane tonal quality that this guitar has. The cleans with the neck pickup tapped are almost acoustic like from my Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier on the Clean setting. Every string rings with a clarity that I have never heard on any guitar with no mud. It's just beautiful. It sounds even more amazing with a few effects through my Boss ME-80 using the Crisp Clean preset from the Blues Collection. It is very easy to get a tele like tone from this guitar... read more I would say that the natural clean tones of the guitar are more like a tele than a strat. That is not a bad thing... especially since I also own an American Deluxe Strat. I love blues and metal. When I say blues... I mean like Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn - not in that order. As far as metal, I am partial to progressive and djent as well as the classic metal that I grew up on. This guitar sounds INSANE for metal. I wouldn't necessarily call it a shredder but the tone is just AMAZING. It all goes back to that clean tone. The clarity of the notes... not being all muddy. In my opinion, this guitar is made for pretty much whatever kind of music you could possibly throw at it. I have literally never played a guitar like it except for a Signature Limited which was similar - I think this guitar is based on the Signature Limited. Cons - I would have liked to have had a 10 top on this guitar. When I received the guitar, the action was high with the string being a little over 1/4 inch above the 22nd fret. Some people like to have their action that high but I prefer it to be lower. I took it to my local guitar shop and had a setup done and he commented that he had never seen a new PRS come with the action that high. No harm, no foul but unexpected.
