The round back designs on Ovation acoustics make them strong providers of a superior tone with powerful projection. The 1861AX Balladeer provides a super shallow cutaway acoustic with a solid spruce (AA) top and scalloped X bracing. The rosewood fingerboard looks and feels magnificent thanks to its smooth playability and pearl dot/diamond inlays. The pearl oak leaf rosette rounds out this good looking guitar and the OCP-1K electronics are an essential compliment to the tone of this guitar when playing through a PA or amplifier.

Extremely comfortable to play. I have some shoulder issues so the super shallow bowl has allowed me to play for much longer with no stiffness. I think the quality of the sound is very good (I don't know how it would rate in a bigger space). I love the playability. The neck is well crafted, the fingerboard is very comfortable to the touch, the frets are set well within the fret board. The tuning pegs appear well made and it's easy to put the guitar in tune (the integrated tuner in the body of the guitar is also a very nice touch). It has quickly become my favourite guitar to play.
