The Feel

The best part of DJing on vinyl is the feel, and that's the one thing that the Numark V7 doesn't seek to replace. Instead, it recreates the feel of an analog turntable by employing a design so simple it's ingenious. Don't call it a jog wheel, the V7's controller is more like an LP on a slip mat on a platter because that's exactly what it is; an independent vinyl disc above a motorized platter, separated by a slip mat. Any move done on an analog deck can be performed on the Numark V7 with the same physical response. The torque of the platter can even be adjusted to suit the individual tastes of the DJ, just like on an old direct-drive turntable.

Timecode-based "virtual vinyl" setups rely on a needle to transmit information to your computer, but because needles often break, or wear down, Numark just left them out of the equation all together when they designed the V7.

Serato ITCH Integration

The Numark V7 ships with Serato ITCH, the favored performance software of many of the world's top DJs and turntablists. The V7 is designed to be a one-to-one physical manifestation of ITCH's control interface. Any function needed in performance, including cueing, looping, pitching, effects manipulation, and even track selection controls are all controllable by the V7. Each button is robust and rubberized for gratifying action and years of service. The effects section has dedicated select and parameter manipulation knobs, along with an "FX Mix" slider for complete control. There's also Numark's unique "Strip-Search" ribbon controller, a radical control option that emulates a needle drop on an analog deck. The logical track selection control section allows for mouse and keyboard-free performance, so DJs can keep their heads in the game when it really matters.
