The Numark 5000FX is a 5-channel tabletop DJ mixer with integrated sampling, scratching, and effects. There are 3 phono, 9 line (3 switchable to phono), and 2 mic inputs -- including a top-mounted Neutrik jack. Outputs include XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced master, zone, booth, record, and S/PDIF digital. Additional features include dual BPM meters, fader start, and a replaceable crossfader with adjustable slope.

Sound: Mixer sounds great! The 3-band EQ has a wide frequency range and can be easily tailored to suit any type of music. Feature: This mixer has just about everything a mobile/club DJ can possibly need: sampler, sound effects, XLR outputs for powered speakers, beat counter, adjustable crossfader, fader relay start and many more. Ease of Use: Clean and simple layout. Nothing complicated here. Manual is user-friendly Quality: I'd owned this mixer for 9 months now and I've used it in club and mobile DJ settings and have even done some intermediate scratching and (knock wood)it works perfectly. The faders feel light with very little resistance, which some people may not like. Value: BAR NONE, THE BEST VALUE FOR 12" MIXERS ON THE MARKET. You would spend twice as much on other mixers that have 1/2 the features. Manufacturer Support: I've called tech support a few times for questions unrelated to this mixer and they have been very helpful. Overall: The crossfader is not replacable without taking off the whole faceplate. I also don't like the AC adapter because it has an external power supply that is 1/2 the size of a brick. This may be a problem when installing it in a DJ coffin where room may be limited. These demerits should not take away from the quality and value of this mixer. I recommend the 5000FX for any type of DJ.

Sound: The sampler sounds good when playing back sounds. Not too shabby when slowing them down or speeding them up. Feature: I wish it had banks so it could hold more than one sample at a time. That's one of my least favorite things about it. I also wish it had midi via usb or firewire. It would be near perfect if it had those things but it's still not bad so I give it an 8. It has a very accurate bpm counter, which is nice and it even remembers the rate of the sample so when you stretch or shrink the time of it, the bpm of the sample reflects the changes. Quality: The unit is solid. The crossfaders on numarks have been known to go out from use but it hasn't messed up yet and it is replaceable. The crossfader still feels nice so that's a redeeming factor. Value: I'd give it a 10 if it had midi ability and sample banks as described above. Manufacturer Support: I've never had to deal with them directly. The Wow Factor: It's a very attractive piece of gear. The knobs feel very nice and have nice grip. The level faders are easy to flick and the crossfader had a slight resistance but moves easily and smooth. The sampler buttons have a "click" feel to them. I wish the record button was a rubber button so I could hit it hard but it's not bad. Overall: I'll give it an 8 since I really wanted some of the features which I described above. I think I'll keep it since it's a nice mixer and it has a lot of practical use but I may not replace it if it were stolen since midi and sample banks are important for my goals. If you don't need what I do then this mixer might be a fine choice.
