The Nady Systems CL-5000 Compressor Limiter with Gate features 2 independent compressor/limiter/gates in a road-tough steel, single-rack space housing; unique circuitry combining hard and soft knee compression styles for excellent inaudible and music program compression and creative and effective dynamics processing; fully automatic or manually variable attack/release times, compression ratio, and threshold control; dual 8-stage gain reduction metering; dual-mono or stereo operation; built-in adjustable dynamic enhancer; IRC (interactive ratio control) expander/gate to automatically adjust expansion per the program material; TRS side-chain applications; 1/4 in. TRS / XLR balanced/unbalanced inputs, XLR balanced outputs; and shielded internal power supply.
Unique circuitry that combines hard and soft knee compression styles, providing excellent inaudible and music program compression and creative and effective dynamics processing.
Advanced operating features include fully automatic or manually variable attack/release times, compression ratio, and threshold control.
Dual 12-stage gain reduction and 8-stage input and output metering.
Dual-mono or stereo operation; servo-balanced inputs (with automatic hum and noise reduction) and outputs.
Built-in adjustable dynamic enhancer (selectively replaces high-end loss even during severe compression produced by high-energy, low-end content).

"For home studio use...money well spent."
I had the blackface Nady CL500 for about three months. It developed a problem and Nady had me send it back. They replaced it with the newer Silver face CL5000.
My comments will be directed toward both.
I get a lot of use out this unit.. the difference it has made is better than I'd hoped.
I cleaned up 15 year old live band boombox made tapes with this,*and my tascam 424* and the finished product would work as a good band demo.
I cleaned up other old home recordings.. balanced instruments and vocals, got rid of some very weird volume problems.
I plug my guitar into it, my presonus blue tube pre amp which handles the vocal mic goes into it. Bass, too.
Everything I do at home in my modest studio has been enhanced by this unit.
It's quiet, the manual is nice, it's solid, pots are all smooth and quiet, it has features that make it practical and easy to use.
I would recommend this to anyone who needs a compressor limiter in a home studio situation, and I'd recommend it as part of a bass rig, and I think it's sweet between my guitar and amp, too.
