While admittedly a enthusiastic user of/believer in other MXL mics, the "discovery" of the LSC-1 was a surprise. I was actually looking into dynamic mics, as I was attempting to "tweak" my sound for guide vocals. The deal-maker was learning that the LSC included omni, cardioid and hyper-cardioid capsules. (As part of my recording process, I generally track guide vocals along with a acoustic guitar track. The hyper-cardioid design is perfect for this purpose). The mic itself is, as usual with MXL products, very nicely designed and executed. A straight-forward, "hand-held" type, which includes a 10db pad switch, is nicely balanced. While requiring 48vdc "phantom" power, the mic performs extremely well as a "basic" vocal mic, although I've been so impresse with it that I use it as the "primary" vocal mic on several recordings. As usual, Zounds handled the transaction in a completely "painless" fashion. Having the absolute best price, as well as in-stock, buying from them was a "no-brainer"! I highly recommend the MXL LSC-1, and of course, Zounds, as "the" place for MXL mics, and any other pro-audio needs (and, naturally, any musical gear!)
