MXL CR77 Stage Dynamic Microphone

A stage-worthy supercardioid dynamic mic in a groovy vintage-style body, the CR77 adds character to any show. Its built-in shockmount makes it singer-proof.

The MXL CR77 is a dynamic stage microphone that melds vintage style with modern design elements both inside and out. Behind the grill, an integrated foam windscreen filters out plosives and background noise while the super cardioid polar pattern rejects periphery noise. The CR77 also features a built-in shockmount to reduce noise from floor vibrations, allowing the singer to come in close to the mic while performing. The CR77's construction is robust and heavy to withstand the rigors of the road. With its distinctive black chrome, perforated metal grill and matte black body, the MXL CR77 commands the stage.

I'm planning to get the Shure Super 55, for the same reason, but I walked into a Guitar Center to have a look at the Shure and saw this mic on Clearance for just $80 (minus the case) and I couldn't refuse! The pick-up is great! I was testing it on a Passport Conference, so you can't judge its sound by that! I'm please that this will be my 2nd mic for my Motown vintage themed karaoke show and the Super 55, the primary - BOTH because of their cool looks. For karaoke, these will be great mics that will help singers sound clear and hear themselves. Atypical of most mic used for karaoke. And patrons "won't touch" , reducing the risk of damage like handheld mics. CON: Shock mount is not all that great. I could hear myself touching the mic stand with every point of contact!
