The Musitek SmartScore Songbook Edition Software allows you to scan multiple pages of printed sheet music and see it reconstructed onscreen in seconds, ready for playback, transposition or part extraction. Re-format, reprint and export finished scores to other music programs via MusicXML or MIDI. An elegant interface includes split screen or continuous horizontal viewing of both the original scan (in yellow) and the editable SmartScore window (in white).

Sound: The sound quality seems standard for computer playback of sheet music. Feature: This software has no useful features for me. When I scanned music into SmartScore Songbook -- either from printed sheet music or a PDF file -- it introduced so many errors into the music that it would have been a huge waste of time and energy for me to edit it back to acceptability. Quality: From my standpoint, this product is abysmally designed and produced. It frequently crashes on my iMac. Also, SmartScore Songbook hijacks my interface between "raw" sheet music and Finale PrintMusic (my main music-editing software), substituting itself as music editor and giving me no way to export scanned music into PrintMusic. Manufacturer Support: Musitek, the manufacturer, arrogantly brushed aside the terrible problems I had getting any useful performance out of SmartScore Songbook, and refused to refund my purchase when I offered to return the product.
