Portable, pure valve, studio quality tone is what the brand new Haze Series is all about. The range has been designed with the gigging/semi-pro musician firmly in mind and takes inspiration from the live music and smokey atmosphere of intimate Blues/Jazz clubs. Loaded with natural valve tone, integrated effects and intuitive footswitching technology, the UK developed and engineered Haze Series takes your studio sound out on the road.

No more compromising on tone over effects (or vise versa) and an end to jumping from FX pedal to FX pedal when your solo kicks in! Comprising the two channel Haze40 and Haze15, the series offers a rugged, gig-ready 40 Watt combo and a peerless 15 Watt head respectively. Combined with MHZ112A and MHZ112B speaker cabs, the Haze15 becomes the epitome of guitar amplification - a valve-driven Marshall stack, but one that fits easily into either the lounge or boot of the car.

Classic Tone, Contemporary Control
The Haze15 contains three ECC83 preamp and two punchy 6V6 power amp valves, providing this two channel mini head with a pure-valve pedigree. A traditional Marshall EQ section of Bass, Middle and Treble allows total tonal control while the Normal and Overdrive channels create both pristine cleans and divine distortions with everything in-between.

Turning up the Normal channel volume takes the clear, honest guitar tone and adds natural valve drive, compression and bite, which can be dynamically adjusted through your guitar's volume control. Engaging the channel-spanning Bright function creates additional sonic sparkle and adds an extra cutting edge to your guitar's tone. Switching to the Overdrive channel sees the amp really start to roar with simple Volume and Gain controls allowing direct, no nonsense access to your sound.

At lower volumes the Haze15 creates smooth and rich overdriven tones, perfect for 'Bluesey' riffing and heart-pounding rhythm playing. Crank this channel up and be rewarded with classic, full-fat, Marshall power amp distortion, and all without taking the roof off! Again, this channel responds extremely well with your guitar's volume control for interactive tone control on the fly.

The two purpose built MHZ112A and MHZ112B speaker cabs have been designed specifically for the Haze15 head, not only in terms of size and style, but also in the sonic-conscious construction and speaker selection process. By calling on nearly half a century's expertise in cabinet manufacture, these compact cabs are able to produce the thick bass and full mid-frequency response required. Both cabs come loaded with a 12-inch Celestion G12T-66 Marquee speaker, specifically developed for the Haze Series and capable of delivering the amp's wide tonal range.

The same speaker and exacting build qualities are of course found in the compact and powerful Haze40 combo. Top loaded for easy panel access and that classic 'Bluesbreaker' look, the Haze40 contains all the features and tone of its 15 Watt cousin and then some. The same two footswitchable channels remain, but now both Normal and Overdrive contain their own independent Boost switch, ideal for fattening single-coil pick-ups for those inspired blues riffs and elevating Overdrive rhythm to thunderous lead respectively. Bass, Middle and Treble have also been joined by a Presence control, allowing further tonal shaping and refinement.

As the name might suggest, this combo produces 40 Watts of glorious Marshall tone through two mighty EL34 power amp valves, enough to satisfy both band practice and smaller venues. The Haze40 also provides a convenient Line Out with loudspeaker emulation and a switchable external effects loop, just the job for linking any FX pedals and rack units to the amplifier. If it's effects you're after however, the Haze Series has a few tricks left up its sleeve.

Creating the Right FX
The beautiful analogue tone produced by each Haze amplifier is matched only by the scope and creative possibilities of the studio quality effects housed within both units. The custom-voiced and widely adjustable Echo, Vibe, and Chorus effects have been specifically designed to help enhance your performance, whether applied subtly or heavily.

Each effect is governed by the Effect Depth and Adjust controls which dial-in the amount of effect in use and control the Echo tempo and Vibe/Chorus modulation rates respectively. Completing the Effects section is a spring-emulated Reverb, which adds both space and fluidity to your overall sound. The key feature however, is that all effect settings are automatically stored to the current channel (and Overdrive Boost on the Haze40), and are recalled when you switch back to that channel - simplicity itself and all from a single footswitch tap.

For the tone purists amongst you, the Effects section features true bypass, which completely removes the effects circuitry and preserves that treasured all-valve signal path.

Fancy Footwork
Included with both Haze amplifiers is a two-way footswitch, enabling quick channel changes and FX on/off toggling (includes connecting cable). Specially designed for use with the Haze40 however, is the optional 4-way Haze Footcontroller* (PEDL-10049) offering extra functionality and control. Stomp your way through the Normal and Overdrive channels, engage and disengage the Overdrive Boost and turn the Reverb and internal Effects on and off at will. There's no restricting amp-specific cable to worry about either, as all you need to connect the Haze Footcontroller* to the amp is a simple guitar lead.

If you've been searching for a portable amplifier range that delivers on all tonal promises, then look no further than the Haze Series from Marshall, a truly versatile and dynamic blend of modern technology and pure analogue heritage.

Marshall MHZ40C Haze Guitar Combo Amplifier (40 Watts, 1x12 in.) Reviews

"I love it, I wanted it, it is what I hoped it would be."
Feature:
It does include a two button footswitch that allows you to change from clean to OD or turn the effect selected on or off. It's nice to not have to pay another $40 for that like Fender charges. The reverb is not the best but I'm not way into reverb except on the clean channel where it does a decent job. The effects could be better but are really pretty decent. Vintage sounding but not analog lush. The thing weighs quite a bit due to the heavy backboard and rear ports for the speaker. Speaker is of excellent quality so don't feel like you will have to swap it out. Tube tones, vintage look and sound, built in 70's effects. This is the amp Marshall should have made ten years ago and no one would have bought a blues junior again!

Quality:
Just based on looks and performance I'd give it a ten but having been made in Indonesia time will tell if the wiring and components stand the test of time. Since it's new I'd take a back up to a gig. If it blows out at a jam or band practice I'd just go home early. With tubes though I'd always take a back up.

Value:
It could cost less but the price is fair considering all the features, tubes, effects, vintage vibe, looks, and sound and included two button footswitch.

Desirability:
It looks great and as I said Marshall should have made this amp ten years ago. Looks great in the living room, or at a gig.

Sound:
Sounds like a vintage Marshall in a small combo. The clean channel with the bright switch on sounds "Fender" clean. With the boost and bright switch engaged the clean channel is more intense and expressive. The OD channel sounds muddy by itself to me, but with the bright switch on it is heavenly. For Metal you would need a special pedal because it just won't go there on it's own, at least with single coils. The louder it gets the better sounding, and it gets loud!

Ease of Use:
Never had to look at the manual. Make sure all the input and output jacks are screwed on tight because mine weren't and there was some buzzing and scratching sounds at first. It should be lighter. Using something besides the heavy back panel would have been nice.

Support:
I can't say. Have not tried to reach them for anything

Overall:
This is the combo amp I've been waiting for Marshall to put out. I would replace it in a heartbeat. It needs a metal pedal to go that way, and of course a wah wah and tuner to complete a basic rig for shows.

"It's the real deal...Marshall sound in small package and no short cuts"
Feature:
I've been impressed with how the effects match up with the amp. I read negative reports before I bought the amp and I think the effects are awesome. Only complaint is the 4 button floor footswitch isn't

Quality:
So far so good. Everything seems solid and heavy duty.

Value:
Compared with the other combo's in this price range it's a winner. Very articulate amp....very clear at the pick attack point. Fender Hotrod Deluxe has a much slower slew rate and is much saggier and sloppy.

Desirability:
It's the real deal in a small package. I have a beautiful Mesa Nomad 45 and still had to have this Marshall. Gonna keep both of them and run them in stereo on the really good days ! With a good volume/stereo pedal you can "A"..."B"...or "Y" and have all the sounds individually or mix it together.

Sound:
The sound of the amp is versatile as the clean sounds sparkle and breakup channel is classic Marshall. I was worried that it was a cool toy and it's the real deal...all Marshall. Thru the 4-12 cab it was huge and plenty of power and head room. I rated it an 8 because you can buy stacks and have roadies do the work...that's a 10 with 4-12 cabs. For a combo 1-12 I rate it very stong and much better amp the Fender Hotrod Deluxe 1-12 (which I've also owned and gigged with extensively)

Ease of Use:
It's fast to learn.

Support:
Again...no issues so far.

Overall:
This amp is a total keeper for me. I like to have a smaller rig to go to jams or rehearsals but still have plenty of headroom. I can carry this amp in one hand and the guitar bag on my shoulder. Also it fits perfectly in the truck of my car (middle size car).
