What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Sitka spruce top Projects rich, crisp and responsive tone
Sapele back and sides Rich, warm, and focused midrange; added sustain
Fishman Sonitone electronics Natural sounding and loud; great live projection
Richlite fretboard Focused tone with excellent playability

Time and time again, Martin shows just how amazing acoustic-electric tone can be. Your Martin DRS2 Road Series 2 guitar delivers a beautifully warm and rich sound thanks to its Sitka spruce and sapele body, rust Stratabond neck with a black Richlite fretboard of 20 frets, Indian rosewood headplate, clean and articulate Fishman Sonitone electronics, and secure black Richlite bridge to hold everything down. Martin continues to strike a chord in playability and pristine sound for the road (or your next living-room jam) with the DRS2 Road Series 2 acoustic electric guitar. This is one Martin you'll want to take everywhere!

Rust Stratabond Neck and Black Richlite Fretboard

Your hand won't be able to get enough of your DRS2's comfortable modified low-oval-shaped Stratabond neck. Stratabond is a durable hardwood laminate crafted to hold up to the test of time, and black Richlite is a solid choice for fingerboards because of its resilience and how well it wears as your fingers travel your DRS2's 20 frets. It offers similar features to ebony fingerboards and is invitingly smooth to the touch.

Solid Sitka Spruce and Solid Sapele Body

Many acoustic guitars feature Sitka spruce tops, thanks to this classic tonewood's pleasant, crisp sound and distinctive grain pattern. In the Martin DRS2, it's used in conjunction with solid sapele for the back and sides. Sapele yields a similar sound to mahogany -- a rich and warm darkness that really pushes your lows and mids with a slightly read more rounded brightness to sharpen things up a bit. Sapele also has an appealing dark look to it, giving your DRS2 sophisticated visual flair.

Well-Articulated Tone, Thanks to Fishman Sonitone Electronics

Bringing all of that warm, rich, full-bodied tone from your guitar to your amp is this baby's Fishman Sonitone pickup and preamp system. Aside from pumping a pristine and clear signal from your DRS2, the volume and tone controls on this baby are hidden just inside the soundhole in an easily accessible and non-invasive fashion.

Just the Right Sound and Feel

Once you shoulder this amazing acoustic-electric axe for the first time, you'll be hooked. Your Martin DRS2 Road Series 2 feels just as nice as it sounds. Rich sound, easy-to-use tone controls, a comfortable modified low oval neck, a smooth fretboard, visually and sonically attractive tonewoods, pristine onboard electronics -- all of these features show how Martin continues to be a top player in the world of acoustic-electric guitars. Best of all, you get all this in a surprisingly affordable instrument.

Martin DRS2 Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Part of Martin's hard-working, great sounding Road Series guitars, the DRS2 delivers a unique blend of durability and concert-quality sound and projection. The top is crafted of solid Sitka spruce and braced with Martin's A-Frame (X1) bracing. Back and sides are select solid sapele, similar in look and tonal qualities to its close cousin, mahogany. As beautiful as it looks and sounds, the DRS2 is a serious working musician's guitar built for on the road durability without sacrifice of tone.

The neck is constructed of a multi-layered wood laminate called Stratabond that perfectly simulates natural quartersawn wood grain. The fingerboard and bridge are crafted of black Richlite, amazingly similar in look, weight and resonance of ebony. A Fishman Sonitone sound reinforcement system completes this very road -- and stage -- worthy Martin.

It's a safe bet to say if you have had any interest in playing guitar you know of the Martin brand name and their reputation for excellence. And if you've ever had the pleasure of playing or hearing one in person you understand why this reputation exist and has for many, many years. I've always dreamed of owning one. I made a personal goal to make that dream come true once I reached what is considered intermediate level play. Unfortunately Martin is not giving their guitars away and the price you pay for excellence is not cheap. Life had a way of keeping my dream on hold for awhile. Until a friend told me about zZounds. So you're saying I can own a Martin, have it in my hands, and make payments? Yeah ok, what's the catch? Folks, there's none. I purchased the DRS2 from zZounds and now am a very proud Martin owner. And did so at a very reasonable, almost hard to believe price. My guitar arrived just a few days from purchase. The moment I opened the case I could literally smell the Martin quality. Don't let the "made in Mexico" turn you off from this guitar. It screams Martin quality. The construction is solid. The look is pure Martin. The tone is exceptional. I have read others complain about it's rich tone but I hear none of that. The solid Sapele back and sides, matched with the medium gauge Martin strings, produces a bellowing tone on the low end while not at all hindering the mids and highs. The solid Spruce top gives excellent response and is a finger picker's dream. read more I have owned/played several lower priced acoustics and this guitar is in a different league as it should be. The sound quality produced is comparable to the higher end Martin's I've had the privilege to play. The electronics are sound amazing and I enjoy having easy access to the volume and tone control just inside the sound hole. Oh FYI, the 9v battery is now located on the outside next to the output jack and not inside. The DRS2 has exceeded my expectations all the way around. And with a solid body construction, and proper maintenance, it should only get better with age. Based on my experience you will not find a better guitar for the money. And you cannot beat the customer service and payment plans provided by zZounds. Thank you Martin and zZounds for making my dream a reality. You have a customer for life.
