While M Audio's Studiophile BX8 and BX5 offer as much or more bass response as you'll find in any monitors of similar size, the addition of an SBX subwoofer puts 120 watts of truly bone-shaking bass in your face. In fact, so many consumers have subwoofers that you're not really mixing accurately without having a sub yourself. M-Audio's unique Stereo Bass Management System splits the signal at the variable crossover frequency, routing everything below to the sub and everything above to the mains. The SBX is so affordable that it also makes an excellent companion to other monitors as well.

What's Stereo Bass Management
When subwoofers are added to many systems, all frequencies are routed to both the main monitors and the sub. The sub typically has a low-pass filter to roll off the highs - as does the SBX. The problem is that both the main monitors and the sub are still trying to put out the same low frequencies, thereby compromising fidelity. M Audio's Stereo Bass Management System solves that and delivers optimal quality. The SBX accommodates the stereo outputs from your mixer, and your main monitors then connect to outputs on the sub. The SBX's internal crossover network splits the signal at a user-defined crossover frequency (50-180Hz), routing everything below it to the internal sub and everything above it the main outputs. This significantly improves fidelity because the sub and mains aren't tripping over each other to reproduce the same frequency - and each component only has to reproduce frequencies to which it is ideally suited. zZounds is an authorized dealer of M-Audio products.

Sound: Bought one......then bought another. I cannot say enough about this sub. I am using two of these along with the BX 5s. This system can go louder than your ears can handle. I produce heavy bass music and these deliver. I have them crossed at 120. I can also put on Saving Private Ryan and be on the beach. No joke. Feature: Features? Electronic crossover networks in both subs. I found that one overrides the other so one has to be the master and the other the slave. Pure bliss. Ease of Use: Hook em up, get small satellite monitors like the bx5 and you are set. Quality: Heavy duty. Value: The best. Manufacturer Support: Not needed it. The Wow Factor: Well they reside in the corners of my studio.....lurking to say the least. Overall: If I could have four or a 10 or 12" model M Audio has my money.

Sound: I have a small studio and this was a great addition to my DX4's. Feature: It has everything I need like that extra punch I needed from a subwoofer!! Ease of Use: Hooked it up in 5 minutes. Adjusted the levels in another 5 minutes. Quality: Quality is excellent!! I'm hooked on M-Audio speakers!! Value: Great value!!! If you need a subwoofer, this is the one to get!! Manufacturer Support: Only reason I'll call is to order more.
