LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI Acoustic Guitar Preamp

Plug into a top-quality DI/preamp! This direct box features 3-band EQ with sweepable mid and notch filter, FX loop, phase reverse, and XLR and 1/4-inch outs.

Get your acoustic axe ready for some discrete Class A FET signal integrity with the LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI acoustic guitar preamp. This extremely low-noise, compact DI/preamp gives you a five-band EQ with controllable notch and midrange bands, XLR and 1/4" output options, a built-in effects send and return loop, a total gain boost of up to +24 dB, and a phase inversion switch. This direct box can be powered via phantom power or a 9-volt battery for up to 200 hours of usage. You'll struggle to find another DI preamp that offers as much versatility and tone shaping prowess as this little baddie does.

Class A FET Input and Superb Inner Circuitry

The Para Acoustic DI's FET input allows your signal to harness a sought-after characteristic of amplifiers: a high input impedance and a low output impedance. This keeps your signal clear, clean, and as free of buzz or unwanted noise as possible -- and a high-input impedance also allows enough room to accommodate virtually any pickup. All these top-notch components reside on a heavy double-sided glass epoxy pressed circuit board, housed inside a protective steel chassis to keep out unwanted elements like dirt or dust, extending the overall lifespan of your DI preamp. The Para Acoustic DI is handmade in the USA, and it's designed to kick around in your gig bag for a good long while.

Shape Your Acoustic Sound with Five-Band EQ Control

This baby gives you a ton of room to shape your sound with dynamic five-band EQ control. From left read more to right, you have your low control with +/-12 dB of movement at 85 Hz, a precision notch filter to eliminate feedback with +/-6 dB of movement from 98 Hz to 247 Hz, a sweepable midrange control with +/-12 dB of movement from 400 Hz to 1.6 kHz, a presence control with +/-6 dB of movement at 5 kHz, and your treble control with +/- 12 dB of movement at 10 kHz. A volume control at the top determines your overall output level, and a fixed low filter at 35 Hz keeps out thumps, bumping, and any other unwanted low end rumble. If your acoustic guitar's pickup sounds a bit thin or dull, this DI can help get it in shape

Phase Inversion Switch and Flexible Connectivity

On the front side of your DI box is a phase inversion switch. This sweet little feature allows you to play around and figure out the best sound for your output. It's also a great friend to have onboard in case you're having a difficult time controlling any feedback issues.

Dependable Power Source

Your LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI preamp can be powered via +48V phantom power or a 9-volt battery. If you go the battery route, you'll have around 200 hours of usage. Your LED indicator light flashes on and off when your battery gets low, and the circuitry of this preamp is wired to seamlessly turn off your battery once phantom power is engaged to increase your battery's life.

I'm actually at this site because I'm buying another one so I can have multiple instruments plugged in simultaneously.
Sound
I've recorded and played many different venues with this. EQ features help with feedback at loud clubs. For general amplification or 2nd signal in recording, it sounds great setting all the nobs to center. I've had a lot of good feedback from soundguys saying this DI sounded much better than any other acoustic guitar/mandolin they've had. I use it coupled with McIntyre Acoustic Feather.
Features
Top features - xlr or 1/4 inch output - EQ with sweep on two bands - power - utilizes phantom power - easy to access battery for on-the-fly changes - clear indication when its about to die
Quality
I've never had a problem with mine. And the battery lasts for a long time. I have one friend whose gone through 2 in less than a year - they just keep dying on him...
Value
Its a little high priced. But its versatility and sound make it well worth it
