Laney Lionheart L20T410 Guitar Combo Amplifier (20 Watts, 4x10")

No longer available at zZounds
This twin-channel, all-tube amplifier's four EL84 tubes run at a parallel single-ended Class A output to push major air through the 10" Jensen P10-R drivers.

Lionheart represents everything Laney has learned through forty years of it's tube heritage, distilled into a single ampilfier range. Designed to deliver the ultimate tone of a tube being pushed hard - warm and expressive, at an output level which can be used in everyday environments.

The L20T410 is a twin channel, all tube amplifier which features 'Parallel single-ended' Class A output from 4x EL84 matched tubes, providing 20 watts of rich tube power, delivered into 4x 10" Jensen P10-R drivers. The L20T-410 also features gold plated PCB's and jack sockets. Sealed gold contact relays are used in all signal paths for minimum sound coloration, and the amp comes fitted with the renowned "Type 4" large spring line reverb for the classic guitar reverb sound. Each L20T-410 features a hand stamped 'build number' in the order they come off the Laney production line, and comes with a custom made 'Lionheart' dust cover.

I want it in my casket with me when I die!
Sound
This is one heck of an amp! Not many reviews on this one, but I think it sounds better than the 5 watt Lionheart. (I own one of those, too.) I own a 70's Marshall 212 tube combo, and a 91 Fender Custom Vibrolux-Reverb, and the Lionhearts are right up there with them in terms of quality sound. It is a very expressive/dynamic amp. Vert lovely clean tones. There are seperate low, mid, and treble controls, but the tone knob at the end of the signal chain can really change things up. If you try this amp and don't like it, you either don't have an ear for great tube tone, or you're a metal-head, which this amp won't do without a pedal.
Features
Nice footswitch. I gave it a 9 because it doesn't have vibrato, which would have been nice.
Ease of Use
You don't even need to read the manual.
Quality
I sent two back before receiving a keeper. It seems I was sent a couple of customer returns, as the first two was missing the bubblewrap on the amp, and the piece of cardboard that goes directly on top of the amp while in the box. All the trouble was worth it. This is a dream of an amp! I would never sell it!
Value
At the price they are now, they are a steal! Boutique quality for less than a grand!
Manufacturer Support
Hohner is the distributor here in the states. I needed a new handle for my 5 Watter, and they sent me a free one right away. They were great!
The Wow Factor
This amp is a work of art! I need an ATA case!
