Laney IRT60H Ironheart Guitar Amplifier Head, 60 Watts

Unleash metal mayhem with this killer amp head! The IRT60H offers 3 channels, variable power from <1 watt to 60 watts, footswitchable pre-boost and more.

Laney's IRT60H Ironheart guitar amplifier head fuels your axe's signal with all the metal you could want. Four ECC83 preamp and two 6L6 output tubes provide plenty of warmth, and push/pull three-band EQ controls make crafting your tone easier than ever. This metal-minded amp head features clean, rhythm, and lead channels, a footswitchable pre-boost control, master volume, dynamics, master tone, and a variable wattage control so you can rock out with the full 60 watts, or dial it back to less than 1 watt for fat tube sounds at low volumes. Plus, the IRT60H adds Laney-designed digital reverb, and a variable level FX loop. The included FS4-IRT footswitch allows for seamless channel switching during your performance. It all adds up to a sick tube head for the metal guitarist.

Three Channels of Warm Tube Tone

Your IRT60H Ironheart amp head offers three channels of dynamic and powerful metal tone -- clean, rhythm, and lead. The clean and rhythm are more like two different modes of the same channel, sharing the same three-band EQ dials. The clean channel provides plenty of warm articulation, brightness, and all-around organic projection. Your rhythm channel brings in a little more brightness and tightness to your sound, and your lead channel gets heavy, with more body and breakup for wailing solos and ear-piercing riffs. The four ECC83 preamp tubes and two 6L6 output tubes give each channel an unmistakably British sonic force that'll steal your heart instantly.

Dialing in the Metal

read more This baddie is loaded with dials and controls that might seem a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll love the sonic versatility at your disposal. Each channel has its own volume control, and your lead and rhythm channels feature gain controls to bring in some breakup. The footswitchable pre-boost control allows you to get a little extra push on each channel for a distinct sonic shift, in essence giving you six different channels to play around with. Both rows of EQ controls boast a push/pull shift feature to give you even more tonal freedom.

Master Section Controls

On the right side of the IRT60H's front panel is the master section, featuring dynamics, tone, reverb, and watts controls. The dynamic control will tighten up the low end -- minimizing it when turned to the left and letting it flow in when turned to the right. The master tone control brightens or darkens your amp's overall output, and the wattage dial acts like a master volume control, allowing you to use this forceful baddie at bedroom levels if you don't want to wake the neighbors -- while still pushing your tubes hard.

Seamless Switching

The IRT60H Ironheart amp head comes with a FS4-IRT footswitch to let you seamlessly switch between channels and settings. This tool also lets you engage and disengage your pre-boost settings so you can get boatloads of control right at your feet. This amp head is an awesome cohort for lovers of rock or metal, and you'll be amazed at how much tonal variety this baby can dish out via a few simple tweaks of your controls and settings.

Laney IRT60H Ironheart Guitar Amp Head

From the brand that brought you the sound of Heavy Metal comes the IRT60H. Forged in the Black Country. Producing 60 watts RMS of all ECC83 & 6L6 valve tone the IRT60H possess masses of gain and like its metal relatives such as the Laney Klipp and the Laney AOR hits you hard between the eyes like a power hammer from hell!

The three channels on the IRT60H give you Clean, Rhythm & Lead all with independent level controls. The Clean and the Rhythm channels share a 3-band EQ with pull-push shift features on each control that gives you total control over your sound allowing you to dial in that killer tone.

The IRT60H Lead channel has an independent 3-band EQ with pull-push shift features on each control allowing for some radical lead tones.

The Pre Boost feature is a great feature on the IRT60H. Pre Boost works just like kicking in your favourite boost pedal right before your amp. It's available wherever you are on the pre amp and can be switched in or out via the supplied footswitch. A standout feature of the IRT60H range is the Watts control in the master section. This allows you to really screw down the output of the IRT60Hs 2 x 6L6 output section, down to less than 1 watt! Great for getting the sound of a full -blown metal head at bedroom levels.

Combine this with a Dynamics control which tightens up your low end when you're playing a full power and you have a great metal tone at whatever level you decide to play at.

The Tone control works really effectively and allows you to make quick adjustments to your overall sound should you for example change guitars.

The IRT60H features a custom designed and specifically tuned reverb allowing you to add just the right amount of reverb wash over your tone. Adding additional effects via external processors is a breeze. The FX loop on the rear of the IRT60H has a switchable level control meaning you can easily switch your FX loop output level to match the ideal level for your effects gear.

The IRT60H's simple pre amp layout means you can easily dial your perfect tone.

Every IRT60H is supplied with dedicated footswitch, which enables you to switch Pre Boost, channels and reverb without having to use the front panel.

There is no doubt that IRT60H is a serious metal amp and much more.

Purchased this amp from zZounds and have owned it for about a month now. Initially I was looking at 3 amp heads, the EVH 5150 III 50 watt head, the Peavey 6505, and the Laney IRT60H. I went with the Laney head after reading and watching many reviews and came to this decision as the Laney is a 3 channel amp that has two separate eq sections and seemed to offer more tonal diversity than the other two amps. I am very satisfied with this decision. The amp has plenty of gain, though you need to turn the gain up a bit more on this amp to achieve the same amount of overdrive as the other two amps. I have my Gain set at 6 for my rhythm and 7 1/2 for my lead channel and I usually run them with the optional gain boost set to "ON". Each of the individual EQ knobs also have a pull push boost to put a some bump in either your lows, mids, or highs. With the addition of a overdrive pedal and noise gate in front of the amp I have achieved an amazing sounding metal tone and it was very easy to obtain. This amp screams metal. It comes with the variable wattage control knob, Which means you can play this at bedroom levels at 1 watt or turn it up to 60 watts all without losing any tonal qualities. I have mine set around the 15 watt level and play through a EVH 2x12 cab and I get amazing tone, I can jam in my living room and not wake up my neighbors. The clean tones are better than other amps dedicated to the metal sound, but still mediocre at best, same with the included digital reverb. The clean read more channel and the rhythm channel share the same eq section so you have to decide which channel gets the better tone or try and find some sort of middle ground, You get the 3rd Lead . For my purposes though, which is playing between crunchy blues and face melting metal, my needs are satisfied. I can get anything from Black Sabbaths old school Iron Man tone to Slayers thrash tone to modern day Djenty down tuned death metal of doom tone. The quality of the build is excellent, this is a heavy and very sturdy amp head, looks amazing when you first plug it in and the red light bathes you in all it's hellish glory. Just to be clear I have played many metal monster amps before, I have owned a Marshall Plexi and a I have played Mesa's and the 6505 line as well. I currently own the 100 watt Peavey Valveking mk II head and matching 4x12 cab. I could have easily sprung a couple of grand for a Orange or Dual Rec. But sometimes it's fun to break the mold and try something a bit different. They make a 120 watt version as well but there is no situation where I would ever need to be that loud where a PA system couldn't compensate. If you are looking for a high gain metal monster with amazing build quality and tone then I highly recommend this amp.
