Tame peaks, add punch, and dial in parallel compression with the Mix knob on the 17XS MkII compressor/limiter -- Lindell Audio's take on the "1176 Sound."

You know the sound of late-'60s-style FET compression -- it's a staple for pro recording studios everywhere. Lindell Audio pays homage to that "1176 sound" with the 17XS MKII FET Compressor/Limiter. This dynamic powerhouse fuses the best aspects of pristine compression and limiting into a single piece of gear, featuring a sidechain high-pass filter, parallel compression, a fixed threshold setup, a high-pass and low-pass filter, a true bypass switch, flexible attack and release settings, ratio settings that include the "all-in" 100:1 mode, and a cool vintage-looking gain reduction VU meter. See just how hard you can push your signal with this master of compression.

Slam Your Signal -- Keep The Definition

As it strives to emulate Universal Audio's famous 1176 compressor, your 17XS MKII puts serious dynamic control in your hands. FET compression is great for punchy instruments, like drums, and your 17XS MKII is a fantastic tool to drive your snare or push your kick drum as far as possible. Your COMP MIX control lets you mix your compressed signal with its dry version for some parallel compression. This allows you to push your compression as far as you want without losing any definition or transients.

Go All-in With the 100:1 Ratio Setting

The one setting that your 17XS MKII wouldn't be complete without -- in terms of really getting that forceful FET dynamic sound -- is the "all-in" setting. Take your ratio control and set it to the 100:1 position, and you'll get a taste read more of just what your 17XS MKII is capable of. Your sidechain high-pass filter is a great tool to use if one of the drums in the kit you're using this baby for keeps pushing your signal too far.

Simple Layout of Controls

Your 17XS MKII has a nice simple control layout free of any superfluous flair. On the front panel you have your input and out controls, your ratio, attack, release, and sidechain high-pass filter, and a dry wet compression mix controls. This baby also has high-pass, low-pass, and comp in switches. On the back you have your XLR in and direct and mix XLR outs.

Lightning-Fast Attack/Release and True Bypass Switch

Your attack and release controls give your 17XS MKII some serious flexibility. Your attack time spans 20 milliseconds to 800 milliseconds, and your release time spans from 50 milliseconds to 0.8 seconds. Whether you want a super-fast attack and a long release, or you'd rather your compressor sneak in slowly, your 17XS MKII has got you covered.
