The La Patrie Motif Nylon String Classical Acoustic Guitar takes its compact dimensions from turn-of-the-century parlor guitars. The compact body of the Motif suggests a 3/4 size instrument but this is a full-scale guitar. There is more to the compact body style of the Motif than comfort, this is a serious guitar with many of the same features that professional guitarists look for in the best handcrafted instruments. The solid cedar top and Custom Polished finish ensure that this guitar will not only sound great when you first receive it but will actually become better sounding with playing over time.

Pressure tested Solid Cedar Tops:

All LaPatrie guitars feature select pressure tested solid cedar tops. Graded and tested for their excellence and structural integrity, this method of pressure testing each solid top ensures the highest levels of stiffness and rigidity along with maximum harmonic vibration. This benefits the overall tone, projection and resonance of these finely crafted instruments. The wood used in these tops can be found only in previously fallen cedar trees that have an average age of about 800 years. Characteristically speaking, this wood features a tight straight grain, which produces greater rigidity while at the same time is flexible across the grain lines.

Custom Polished Finish:

La Patrie guitars also feature a Custom Polished finish, which is reminiscent of the French polish of the 19th Century. This Custom Polished Finish, as opposed to read more "thick" polyester finishes, allows the top not only to be protected but also to breathe and vibrate freely allowing the effective and very important "aging" process to take its course. This "aging" process means that every La Patrie acoustic guitar will actually sound better and better the more it’s played over time.

Honduras Mahogany Neck:

The necks on La Patrie guitars are carved from Honduras mahogany and feature an innovative double-function truss rod system not generally found in traditional classical guitars. This system allows the profile of the neck to be reduced producing a neck of extraordinary comfort, while increasing stability.
