1,500 Watts of High-Performance Bass

Promising to deliver rich, deep bass response even at very high sound power levels, the PRX718XLF offers clean headroom and ultra-low-distortion power for every performance. You can crank up your music and still enjoy deep booming lows.

Efficient Drivers for a Lighter-Weight Design

JBL's Differential Drive technology allows the PRX718XLF to keep cool under pressure. Differential Drive technology delivers extended frequency response, high power output, and low distortion in a lighter-weight package than what you're accustomed to seeing with 18" powered subwoofers of this caliber. The ferrite magnet is positioned inside the dual-coil/dual-gap voice coil, which eliminates the need for heavy steel pole pieces and in turn, maximizes power amp efficiency, disperses heat, and increases power handling.

When you pair Differential Drive technology with efficient Class-D amplification, you get a lighter-weight powered subwoofer that drives high sound pressure levels (SPL) and delivers unrivaled speaker and amp performance. All in all, the PRX718XLF provides lots of power, accurate dynamics, and pure sound reproduction in a read more smaller, lighter profile than typical 18" subs.

Structurally Sound Construction

The sleek PRX718XLF looks as good as it sounds. Built for the long haul, the powered subwoofer is constructed of a strong combination of 25 mm (on the top and bottom for added rigidity) and 18 mm poplar plywood that fits together with tongue and groove joints. JBL's DuraFlex finish and dent-resistant 16-gauge steel grilles ensure that the unit can withstand the wear and tear that comes with regular touring and gigging, and lightweight glass-filled nylon handles provide an ergonomic grip for getting the subwoofer from your van to the venue.

Input Panel

With a DSP input limiter circuit onboard, the PRX718XLF is able to guarantee signal integrity no matter what. The subwoofer also offers selectable system EQ, crossover, dynamic limiting, and amplifier control.

Multiple System Setup Options

The PRX718XLF is all set up for use with other models in JBL's PRX700 series. If you want to integrate it with other compatible units, take advantage of its pole receptacle and integrated stereo pass-thru with selectable HP filter and polarity reverse for matching to system configurations. Stack it for quick setup and teardown.

I just sold my 18" powered sub because I wasn't happy with the performance, won't call any names but it would clip very easily at 12 o'clock setting so I was always backing down level while playing gigs. I was for a long time contemplating between going back to passive subs or switching to another powered brand, as I needed a sub that would perform with consistency and depth. I matched this sub up with my PRX715 tops. The low bass output performs with precision and follows through every time low frequency is required. This speaker reaches down low to 30Hz. It never backs off or clips when driven harder.

Sound
Sound quality is very important and the PRX-XLF makes the grade. I would recommend to anyone using active/powered speakers to invest into a dbx Driverack as it completely enhances quality by providing a cleaner sound and protects your speakers from over gaining if being used by other DJs who have no idea about good sound quality.

Features
Sub has high pass filter if setup is routed through sub to main tops. It accepts both 1/4 and XLR inputs from one connector (XLR recommended).

Quality
Durable quality textured finish for SGL (Sound Guy Life).

Value
Compared to going passive route, two powered subs are equivalent in pricing for pro grade amplifier and speakers. The advantage is that you don't have to lug around additional equipment with amp rack at read more the end of the night/early morning. Also no need to find clean power for an amplifier that requires 20 amp circuit which is almost never available at most venues.

The Wow Factor
Has a sleek and sexy look to it. Don't be fooled; it is a beast when low bass starts to thump.

Musical Style:
Reggae, Hip-hop, R&B
