Manufacturer's Description for JBL PRX718S Powered Subwoofer (700 Watts, 1x18 in.)

The PRX718S is a powered, direct radiating subwoofer system comparable in performance to the VRX918SP. With a pole receptacle (that accepts a SS3-BK) on the top panel and integrated stereo pass-thru, with selectable HP filter, this is the most powerful complement to the PRX full-range systems. Configured with a PRX512M or PRX515; the result is a transportable, high performance sub-satellite system. The addition of a polarity reverse option further enables system optimization.

Sound: I was in the market to add some bottom end to my JBL PRX515's and this was the answer! School dances are a huge hit for our company! Too many wanna be DJ's are trying to use small PA systems for the new hip hop music and it just can't be done without the bottom end that JBL offers. Way better than the 518 subs!! Better than Mackie or QSC subs. Feature: Built in crossover if you don't have a DBX drive rack. Ease of Use: It is powered and easy to use.

Sound: Crisp and accurate low frequency reproduction, using an 18" Differential Drive woofer (2268FF) and a 700 watt (RMS) Crown Amp that produces 1400 watt peaks, all at a rated distortion of .01% and a Frequency Range of 33-160 hz. Feature: Includes DSP circuitry and an internal 120 hz crossover network. XLR inputs and outputs. Selectable Hi-Pass Filter allows you to run output full-range to another powered subwoofer. Ease of Use: I was able to easily lift and carry this unit with the two very ergonomic handles. Its 74 pounds, but that's pretty lightweight when you consider its putting out 133 db of bass output. Quality: Made in North America (not China), and the Duraflex finish along with the foam-backed grill looks stunning with the lighted JBL-Crown logo on the front panel. Value: You get what you pay for, and when the product includes a $1000 amplifier as part of the cabinet cost...you can be assured that you're getting a great value when you condider the cost of the woofer ($400), the crossover network ($250) and the cabinet materials ($300). Simply put, it would COST me about $2000 to build a subwoofer of this quality and audio output. Considering that the product can be found for around $1300, if you shop around--I'd say this sub beats all Cost-To-Value ratios. Then consider the RESALE VALUE of JBL products: If you take care of your speakers with the matching covers, your investment should pay back at least 70% of your purchasing cost! Manufacturer Support: I've always had the best support from this company, but usually its been in getting old owner's manuals for discontinued products. JBL products last a lifetime, and they seem to keep on ticking for a long long time! The Wow Factor: Not only did I buy one for my mobile Disc Jockey system, I'm also planning on purchasing ANOTHER ONE of these for my Home Theatre audio system. Overall: I would probably never need to buy another sub-woofer in my lifetime. You will probably have to pry this cabinet out of my dead hands--LOL
