These affordable 8" studio monitor speakers bring JBL quality to the masses, with a 37 Hz - 24 kHz range and an updated waveguide for a wide "sweet spot."

With the JBL LSR308 powered studio monitors, JBL has made their patent-pending Image Control Waveguide technology available in an amazingly affordable model! The LSR308 is a bi-amplified monitor with a magnetically shielded 8" woofer and a 1" soft-dome tweeter outfitted with the Image Control Waveguide -- a means of sound dispersement that promises an incredibly wide sweet spot in any room, originally designed for the JBL flagship M2 Master Reference monitors at $20,000 a pair. The Image Control Waveguide controls sound in the vertical and horizontal planes, allowing the engineer or musician to move around freely in front of the monitors without hearing changes in frequency response, even allowing you to accurately discern mic placement. With the LSR308, JBL is bringing this technology, previously reserved only for high-end engineers, to the masses.

Built for Wide Frequency Response at Any Volume

When you're playing back a mix at low volumes, many monitors lose bass information in the mix, losing accuracy and becoming unusable. JBL has outfitted the LSR308 monitor with their patented slip stream low-frequency port design, which works with the woofer to deliver great bass response, even if you're listening at low levels, using the double-flared shape of the port on the rear of the monitor. The LSR308 uses Class D amplifiers to power the speakers with ample headroom, including an input sensitivity switch read more on the back of the monitor so you can be sure that you'll never overload it or head into distorted territory.

Options That Match Your Studio

The JBL LSR308 is outfitted with balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs, so you'll never run into a situation where these monitors won't fit. The back panel also features trim switches for the high- and low-frequency response, meaning you can tune them specifically to your room, which makes them some of the most adaptable monitors on the market, fit for any room, from bedroom studios to full-blown professional control rooms.

JBL Means Reliability

Before shipping out any set of LSR308 monitors, JBL runs them through a 100 hour power test, where they must perform at full output for 100 hours without failing. They also test their monitors with LSR -- that is, Linear Spatial Reference -- criteria, taking 72 measurements that make sure these monitors sound right in any room, no matter what. The LSR308 monitors truly have professional standard features with an affordable pricetag that is sweet enough for bedroom recordists.

JBL LSR308 Powered Studio Monitor

The JBL LSR308 8" bi-amplified powered studio monitors are the first affordable studio monitors with JBL's patent-pending Image Control Waveguide, for remarkable performance over a wide listening space in any room. The difference is indisputable. With the Image Control Waveguide, 3 Series delivers incredible imaging, with an expansive soundstage and solid phantom center. Increased detail means you'll hear micro-dynamics in reverb decay -- and hear mic placement! The LSR305's broad sweet spot let you hear the same response across a large space in any room.

Image Control Waveguide

The Image Control Waveguide was developed for JBL's flagship monitor. With the introduction of the JBL 3 Series, is now included for the first time in an affordable, compact reference monitor. The patent-pending design of the Image Control Waveguide precisely controls the sound emanating from the speaker in the vertical and horizontal planes ensuring the presentation at the listening position is neutral and accurate.

JBL Transducers: Legendary for their Performance

The 3 Series long-throw woofer and its damped woven composite Neodymium tweeter are designed from the ground up to reproduce the powerful transients and micro dynamics of your mix. These drivers deliver impressive deep bass and smooth high frequency response beyond the range of human hearing.

JBL's Patented Slip Stream low frequency port design

This port works in concert with the woofer to produce deep bass response at all playback levels. The double-flared shape of the port is precisely engineered for greater low-frequency extension and reduced turbulence.

Big Power, Big Sound

Efficient Class D Amplifiers provide abundant power to deliver the output and dynamic headroom needed for the most demanding production styles

Professional Balanced Inputs

Balanced XLR and 6 mm TRS inputs give you the options you need to connect your 3 Series to any signal source while maintaining professional signal quality.

Selectable Input Sensitivity

The -10 dB/+4 dB sensitivity switch ensures compatibility with a broad range of signal sources, allowing you to connect the 3 Series to high output professional gear without any danger of input overload.

LF Trim and HF Trim

"TRIM" switches for both the Low and High Frequencies give you excellent control over the 3 Series sound in "your" room. Use these to fine-tune the amount of bass and treble you hear to compensate for room acoustics, program material and your personal taste.

JBL Professional Reliability

Prior to becoming a production-ready design, each 3 Series model is subjected to JBL's tough 100 hour power test, in which the speaker is required to play continually at full output for 100 hours without failure. This demanding test ensures your 3 Series speakers will deliver years of reliable performance.

JBL LSR Design: Your Music Needs a Point of Reference

While most manufacturers take only a single on axis measurement of the speaker's performance, this doesn't tell how it will sound in your room. JBL's LSR Linear Spatial Reference design criteria requires seventy-two measurements yielding more than 1,200 times more data, enabling JBL to engineer a speaker that "sounds right" in any working space. With LSR design, 3 Series Studio Monitors deliver superior accuracy regardless of the size and shape of your room, so your mixes "hit their mark" when heard on any playback system.

I was in needing another set of speakers after one of mine blew which I thought were good (Alesis MKII) UNTIL I heard a set of JBL monitors. I heard a set at a friends house in his music room …he had no room treatment ,no bass traps ,and they were pretty much pushed tight against the back wall AND THESE SPEAKERS SOUNDED AMAZING !!!!!I was at Guitar center prior being at my friends house listening to monitors and when the tec came to the JBL line i had him to skip them my MISTAKE .I was set on getting the yamaha HS 8 i read every review I had even thought about getting a set of presonus monitors , KRK for me was completely out of the question as they sounded muddy to my ears. long story short I bought a set of 308s and Im blown away !! they are VERY Clean , the sweet spot is simply amazing !!! they carry good bass although i still have a sub to check my mixes when I'm done .For me I could never mix my own vocals until i bought a set of these , they are a game changer in your mixing or at least they were in mine .I didn't want to leave the studio the day I put them in it , I heard things in songs i have never heard before , reverb tails over compression, notes , you can hear it all .I know that there is plenty more monitors on the market , however these are the smoking gun in my book !!!one other thing , I did do a very meticulous setup , I have built bass traps from floor to celling in my mixing room the entire wall behind the monitors is also treated as the 1st 2nd 3rd reflection read more points with diffusers on the back wall .Treatment on the ceiling directly above the monitors, last but not least they are set at 80db I done this within my DAW as far as setting the gain structure with pink noise . the knobs on the back are sturdy , although the detent in the volume knobs have me 1/2db hotter on one side (Im not complaining) the eq switches I have not touched as I left mine set flat .these are a great buy and a great speaker ,if you are reading reviews on this speaker your interested ….just click BUY you won't be disappointed !!!
