Distinctive and affordable, Jackson’s X Series Soloist models are built for speed, and loaded with purebred Jackson DNA.

The Jackson X Series Soloist SLX Spalted Maple features a basswood body with a beautiful spalted maple veneer top, through-body maple neck with graphite reinforcement and tilt-back scarf joint headstock for greater playing comfort. Hosting 24 jumbo frets, the 12"-16" fully bound compound radius dark walnut fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out.

Duncan Designed alnico HB-103N (neck) and high-output ceramic HB-103B (bridge) humbucking pickups power this metal beast, which also includes single volume and tone controls, three-way blade switching and a Floyd Rose Special double-locking two-point tremolo bridge system for rock-solid tuning stability.

A sophisticated and stunningly elegant guitar, the SLX Spalted Maple is available in Natural with black hardware and pearloid sharkfin inlays.

I was excited about purchasing this as I LOVE most good quality Jackson guitars and own several and play them out professionally regularly. Ive always wanted a woodgrain finished guitar so here was my chance. Man what a dissapointment this was. As soon as i got it out of the box I noticed a couple dinks in the face of the body. Not the end of the world but not what you wanna see when purchasing new. As im checking out the finishes i notice the back and neck have a dark stain finish and the face of the body is natural as described. BUT where the dark stain ends the lines are all squiggly at the edge, crawling on and off the face of the guitar. Not a clean transition by any means. Sloppy sloppy work. The neck definitely has a different feel then my other jacksons. Not in a good way either. The frets seemed raised and it didnt feel smooth for fast transitions or technical runs. The pickups were actually the highlight to my surprise. Nice bright tones on the bridge position and not super muddy on the neck position. It was out of tune out of the box asond rgw fine tuners were out of range so I unlocked the nut and adjusted accordingly. The tuner heads were glitchy acting and not smooth the get right to pitch. Overall Im let down with this one. Not what I am used to with Jackson for sure. And this is not entry level prices so I expected better quality. Save your money and move on to something else.
