This is my 3rd Guitar with more than 7 strings, I have owned a few Ibanez RG series RG9 and RG8, so I'll be comparing this to those as well as the Schecter Omen which I have experience on. Neck: Slim but not quite as flat as The RG, sort of between a Schecter and an RG, fast definitely playable, not 100% on the 1 piece with graphite reinforcement, but time will test that one. Electronics: Pickups sound great out of the box even playing through my Pod HD500X which sounds terrible for extended ranged guitars, so I'm certain my Randal RM100 with Traadplate module will be just as suitable. Pickups on mine are the Nazgul and Sentinel passives by Seymour Duncan, I used the Dimarzio activatiors on my last RG8 and disliked them quite a bit due to way too much high end not enough control. These pickups are very similar to EMG 808s but since they're passive they add a bit less unwanted noise, pinch harmonics shine perfectly through the Nazgul, the Sentinel is a great contrast to the high wound nazgul, bringing the bite back and introducing some nice warm tones, excellent for clean tones. The Killswitch is a great little doo-dad to add to this guitar, responds well. LOCKING TUNERS: this guitar will make you watch a video on how to restring these little guys, but it's fairly straight forward, they keep your strings from slipping, quite fancy, nice for micro adjustments as well. Neck Binding: I was worried about the shape judging from the photos, but this neck binding is not much of read more a nuicance, I normally play on set necks or neck through constructions, but this Jackson did not cause any issues, it is nicely rounded off at the back, Sweeping to the 24th fret feels comfortable and not like a chore. Out of the Box review: They put too light of a string on the 8th string, intonation wasn't fantastic, took a while to setup, but overall for the deal that you get from zZounds, it's worth it, packed well, shipped quickly.
