I have been a touring and studio Bass guitarist for over 30 years and have truly run the gamut of basses, from cheap get me through the gig, to custom ken smiths and custom built precision's, so when the time came to find a versatile bass to compliment my current stage of my playing career i fell upon this beauty, and once again the folks at Ibanez did not disappoint. having had other sr series basses in the past most recently a sr885 a true gem in its own right. I did the research and am I glad i did. this instrument delivers in every aspect i expect from much more expensive models at three times the price tag. the choice of woods used and the serious upgrades the the electronics provide me the much need versatility that a lot of music demands today, a huge advantage to working bass players on a tight budget, not having to lug multiple guitars with a limited amount of space is a huge plus for me. the bass comes from the factory equipped with elixir strings and right out of the box I had to very little set up with regards to action and intonation adjustments, and to this day over a year after purchasing this masterpiece I have yet to make any adjustments to either, let me mention that i play with a very heavy attack mostly with a pick for the extra punch, most bass players that prefer the finger technique as their dominant playing style will be impressed with the versatility of the the passive electronics and the P/J configuration of the nordstrom pick ups giving you every possible read more tonal range you could ask for and then some. the neck is extremely fast and comfortable, even during soloing in the second octave, the notes ring with solid resonance and are truly comfortable to achieve, something that lacks in other basses overall I am very very pleased with this bass as I am sure you will be as well. dont let the inexpensive price tag fool you, this bass is well worth more than that
