Nordstrand Big Singles: Some of the Fattest Bass Pickups Ever

The Nordstrand Big Single pickups on this baby have been described by some as a "J Bass pickup on steroids." It's a fair assessment! The tone is rich and focused, and has a huge output that can really deliver for players needing the heaviest, punchiest bass sounds.

The engineers at Nordstrand achieved the power of this pickup by rotating the pole of each magnet 45 degrees, thereby increasing the size of the traditional J-style coil by 50%. The resulting sound is decidedly "wider" or "fatter," as the magnets can now capture more harmonic content from the string. Just underneath the read more bridge pickup you'll find the EQB-IIISC 3-band EQ, which includes a mid-frequency switch and an EQ bypass switch. THe tonal possibilities are endless.

Ibanez Mono-Rail: One of the Best Bass Bridges

The hardware on the Ibanez SR1400E Premium is really exceptional in every regard. The Mono-Rail Bridge arguably provides the best possible string isolation you're likely to find on an electric bass. Each of its saddles are independently and securely locked down to the body to achieve maximum vibration transfer. There is one screw on each saddle for controlling the height. Gotoh tuning machines up top keep your intonation reliably tight.

Hope it helps take me and my band to the next level. I was having problems with my neck and I wanted a lighter bass then my jazz. This works well, great for slapping, and much lighter on my neck. Much less strain on my left hand for chordal work because of the slimmer neck. A lot more options in the tone department and is a better bass to work with effects because of the greater tonal control.
Sound
Nice round tone with a huge amount of options for manipulating my sound. Works really well with my pedals and adding effects makes more sense and sounds better with the SR1400 then with my Fender Jazz.
Features
EQ is great. Would have liked a strap along with the gig bag. Gig bag is nice though.
Ease of Use
Very easy to learn and get a feel for this bass.
Quality
Came from zzounds well setup and ready to go. Especially shipping in this heat, the bass held up well and was ready to play pretty much out of the shipping box. Just tune up and go.
Value
Good value. You get what you pay for.
