With this powerful 7-string guitar from Ibanez's Iron Label series, you can acquire a vicious, thunderous sound that is made for heavy metal.

What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Mahogany body Rich, warm, focused sound; added sustain
Nitro Wizard-7 neck Fast playing and maximum comfort
EMG 707 alnico active humbucking pickups Tight, responsive 7-string pickup with beefy low B
Gibraltar Standard 7 bridge Perfect intonation and tonal clarity for 7-string

With a basswood body, rosewood fingerboard, classic pearl dot inlays, combined with bend-friendly jumbo frets, the Ibanez RGIR27FE Iron Label Electric Guitar takes the increased mass that seven strings require has and shapes it to feel as natural a possible to the six-string trained player. As the originators of the thin, fast neck, the Ibanez Nitro Wizard-7 neck is yet another achievement for the Ibanez designers in terms of player comfort.

The EMG 707 humbuckers, in both bridge and neck positions, are quickly becoming a favorite in the 7-string world for their well-earned reputation of producing amazingly layered textures of distortion. And the performance enhancing killswitch puts you in command of a head-turning strobe effect. With the purposefully Spartan Iron Label, you won't find a feature here that doesn't contribute directly to waking the dead.

As the competition slept for almost a decade, Ibanez pioneered and perfected the 7-string. Now they bring that veteran expertise to Iron Label, their made-for-metal guitar series. If the idea of a 7-string version of their legendary RG, tweaked and modded strictly for metal sounds good to you, then this axe might be your seventh heaven.

First one I ordered was a dud, poorly set up and had defective electronics. The high E buzzed at the nut. Second one however was perfect.
Sound
The 707's are ok. My first set of active electronics. The cleans aren't as bad as people would lead you to believe. Overdriven sounds to me seem to lack articulation on the lower ends.
Features
The killswitch is fun, the switch however is not as fluid as one would think on a three way pickup selector.
Ease of Use
It has high output EMG's you know what you're going to use it for and what Ibanez is marketing the Iron Label series to.
Quality
First one was as I mentioned poor. Action was too high, and the fret ends were very sharp. New one was just right but the fret ends were better.
Value
For the price I would have expected it to be neck through as opposed to a bolt on. The initial quality to me doesn't seem to garner its current list price.
Manufacturer Support
Did not need to contact Ibanez.
The Wow Factor
I like the Bubinga stripe in the neck. Looked more appealing on the 6 and 7's than the double strip on the 8 string version.
