What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Basswood body Big, warm midrange tones
Rosewood fretboard Open, warm tone and smooth playing feel
Edge Zero tremolo bridge with ZPS3 Control over spring tension, intonation, stability
Gotoh tuners Solid and dependable tuning stability

Ibanez's RGD2127Z not only gives you seven-string range -- its extra-long neck ensures the guitar can handle all those earth-shaking sounds without buzzing out. Its V77 and V87 pickups are also designed to handle low-end rumbles with plenty of definition.

Made to Get Low

The seven-string design of the RGD2127Z adds another low string beyond the standard six-string range, enabling fans of heavy riffing to reach the depths of rock and metal. Ibanez has enhanced this model's low-end range with an extra-long 26.5-inch neck scale. The longer neck is better equipped to handle drop tunings, meaning you can tune down to Antarctica before you hear fret buzz.

You can take things even lower with the Edge Zero 7 bridge. Ibanez's own tremolo system comes stock on the RGD2127Z. Push the bar as low as you can for extreme dive bombs or pull up into the recessed cavity for screeching harmonics.

Clean, Responsive Tone From V77 and V87 Pickups

Loaded in the RGD2127Z's neck pickup slot is Ibanez's V77. A seven-string version of the Vintage 7, this humbucker delivers bright and clean tones but responds well to distortion. The bridge slot holds a V87, known for high output and rich harmonics, especially with the gain turned up a bit. Both pickups were engineered by Ibanez to handle the heavy sounds of seven-string guitars.

Thick Sounds with a Slim Neck

The long length and deep range of the RGD2127Z's neck doesn't mean that Ibanez has sacrificed speed. The guitar is constructed with a read more maple and wenge Wizard-7 Prestige Neck -- well known among shredders for its flat contour and playability. This version of the Wizard series brings the speedy neck to seven-string players with its thin profile -- 19 mm thick at the nut and 21mm at the 12th fret. The deep cutaways allow access all the way up the fretboard.
