Ibanez CMM1 Chris Miller Signature

Check out the Ibanez CMM1-IV electric guitar made with input from guitarist Chris Miller of the British rock band, You Me At Six, which has been lighting up the British charts with their alt/punk/indie rock sound since 2008. The group's dynamic lead guitarist, Chris Miller, had the opportunity to play a prototype of the new Roadcore series and was so impressed he eagerly collaborated with Ibanez to create his own signature model.

Chris had some distinctive ideas and the result is a signature model that is uniquely his own. The Roadcore shape Mahogany body is finished in a smooth, creamy, Ivory and as with the original Roadcore, it has a slim Maple neck with a vintage style high gloss finish. It also includes the Rosewood fingerboard, Pearl dot inlays and Medium frets, but that's where the similarities end. The CMM1 electronics feature a Std. SS-1 single coil neck pickup, while a Std. H bridge pickup with a push/pull tap control gives you a single coil option in the bridge position as well.

The result is an axe that can do searing leads, fat power chords and deliver a chunky, "spank" rhythm as funky as any single coil guitar you've ever experienced. Each Guitar comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Chris Miller.

Ibanez has decided to go into the market of offset guitars. Read my specifics and you'll see how I think they did with this one.

Sound
The stock pickups on this axe are nice but are definitely something that you want to change out. They'll last a bit and they're completely usable, but they're not anything extraordinary. Taking into account all of the woods anyway, it sounds amazing. As is Ibanez tradition the stock pickups in this guitar really do well with most distortions. Doesn't mean that won't sound good clean, (It sounds good clean, the p90 in particular) It's just that it doesn't seem to be its primary use.

Features
The tone of the mahogany body, gloss maple neck with a rosewood fretboard really shows. It will give a very warm tone in some places but you can mess around with it on the setting for whatever amp you're using. It has speed grip bell knobs, that is the coolest thing I have ever heard and I love that it's on this guitar. The rest of the components are just ibanez standard stock so that they can give you a guitar with the best materials for a more fair price.

Ease of Use
After a setup, the instrument is extremely playable and surprisingly comfortable. It's also pretty easy to get great sounds from the stock components but still, think about a pickup switch.

Quality
It's very well made and super solid. It seems like it will last a long read more while.

Value
In this price range the guitar is competing with a list of other products. For the genre it assumes that you play (relative to You Me At Six) it is definitely the best value for the genre.

Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to deal with support so no comment.

The Wow Factor
The color is a cream white that is just amazing in person. It's not quite typical cream but it seems Chris Miller had a hand in picking the right kind of cream. The offset shape combined with the color is definitely appealing to people who don't just want the typical Ibanez metal axe.

Musical Background:
I've been playing at home and in bands for years.

Musical Style:
Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Post-Hardcore, Pop Punk, Modern Rock, and Alt Rock.
