Extended Neck for Tight Sound

The 35" scale of the BTB's neck adds a bit of tension on the strings, helping ensure your low-end notes sound clear and don't buzz along the frets. The 7-piece neck is crafted of maple, bubinga, and walnut, lending it an elegant striped pattern. It is set into the body and reinforced with graphite rods for enhanced stability and resonance. The neck is topped with a rosewood fretboard and the body's deep cutaways give you access all the way up the neck.

Solid Build to Handle Rumble

This BTB bass combines a maple top and a mahogany body for a crisp tone that is able to articulate its extended five-string range. The body also features tone-enhancing components like a Mono-Rail IV bridge, which not only uses locking saddles, but isolates each string in its own independent saddle to eliminate any vibration interference.

Clear Single-Coil Sound

TheThe BTB is outfitted with two Nordstrand Big Single 5 Pickups in the neck and bridge positions. These single-coil pickups respond well to slap playing, providing the bell-like clarity that funk and R&B players love. Rock players will appreciate the bridge pickup's ability to reach snarling tones when overdriven, making it easy for a bassist to cut through the mix when they need to.

An active 3-band EQ gives you independent read more bass, middle, and treble controls, while the mid-frequency select switch instantly changes the frequency used as the center point for the mid knob from 250 to 600 Hz.

I just bought this bass and received it from zZounds tonight. I tuned it and plugged into my 200W Eden. After learning the controls, I could easily dial in any sound I was looking for in seconds. Smooth jazz to funk with the flip of a switch and adjusting the onboard active equalization. I played it all the way up the neck. No fret buzz anywhere and no intonation issues. Guess I don't have to pay a guitar tech $35-40 to set it up. The deep rose flat color with the gold hardware makes the instrument most pleasant to look at during the moments when I'm not playing it. It's one of the best basses I've ever owned. Worth every penny at $1500. If you like Ibanez basses, particularly the BTB series, you'll love this one. Buy it! You'll like it.
