I used to own an ATK 4-string bass, and I am thinking about ordering this particular bass. The 3-way toggle switch for the tone doesn't make that much of a difference - I just left it in the middle on my old one. That said, the tone from this beast is amazing! Very diverse tone, which I used in a local studio when I was the session bassist, for country, rock, blues, jazz, gospel... You name it. And this was with the EQ flat. The EQ section is powerful, and if you use too much, the tone can be unusable. Make small adjustments. Overall, I would recommend the ATK basses to just about anyone looking for a dependable bass for only a small price.

Musical Background:

Playing bass for 20+ years, on and off. I like simple, diverse gear that gets the job done.

Musical Style:

rock, metal, funk, blues, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, country, reggae, salsa, praise & worship, experimental jams, etc.
