Try your hand at the acoustic-electric bass for a reasonable price. With a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the Ibanez AEB5E resonates with warm lows.

The Ibanez AEB5E acoustic-electric bass is a great way to get a solid acoustic-electric instrument in your hands without dropping a ton of bucks. It is a compelling option for a bass player in intimate, unplugged situations where no amplification is required. Here you'll find that it blends perfectly with acoustic guitars and hand drums. And then, when you're ready to go live and start crafting a truly distinctive sound, the onboard preamp allows you to plug right into a bass amp or DI to get a sound that will fill as much space as you need.

A New Tone to Play With

The sound of an acoustic bass gives you unique tonal opportunities in solo or ensemble situations. Its light spruce top gives its tone warmth and resonance, while the mahogany back and sides assure a sound that has definition and richness. The scale length of the AEL body is a standard 32 inches, which makes it easy to get used to for first-time acoustic-electric bass players. The mahogany neck is set with a comfortable rosewood bridge and fretboard.

Versatile Internal Electronics

The internal pickup is an Ibanez AEQ-SST Shape Shifter preamp with onboard tuner. This allows you to customize the tonal output of your bass to blend with the rest of your bandmates, and to make sure that the low-end is properly tuned to the room where you're playing. The output runs from a balanced output that allows you to use ordinary guitar cables or balanced TRS cables when desired.

Solid Hardware

Handsome chrome read more die-cast tuners keep your instrument in tune. They accent the headstock, which is inlaid with a handsome metallic leaf. An attractive abalone rosette accents the glossy finished top. The hardware is completed with an Ivorex II nut and saddle.

Ibanez AEB5E Acoustic-Electric Bass

The addition of an acoustic bass in any musical situation adds a layer of warm, low-end resonance that makes songs come alive. The AEB full-sized body provides rich tones while the 32-inch neck scale offers the right combination of tonal warmth, easy playability and clear articulation.

Ivorex II nut is stronger and more durable than bone and even harder than the original Ivorex. Ivorex II nut allows brilliant highs and more pronounced lows with less mid-range which makes Ivorex II-fitted guitars perfect for amplification.

The AEB5 models feature an Ibanez Piezo pickup and Ibanez AEQ202T preamp with 2-band EQ and onboard tuner (balanced 1/4-inch output).

I wanted an acoustic bass to play around with basically, not every song we write has use for one. however, the price was right. The Bass arrived about two days after I ordered it, it was packaged well, it sounds great with or without amp and everything seems to work, and it was practically in tune out of the box...I'm very pleased and may do a lot more acoustic stuff than originally planned.
