Born from a long lineage of stringed instruments, the acoustic guitar is steeped in tradition. But music continues to evolve, and musicians demand inspiring new tools with which to carve out their own signature sound. Fueled by this, we developed Ibanez AE, our new flagship series of acoustic-electric guitars, designed specifically for the acoustic performer.

The AE body shape features contemporary design elements to achieve high playability and create a well-balanced sound that adheres to the concept of the AE series. The combination of the specially designed Scalloped X Bracing and Tone Projection Back Bracing produces a versatile sound character. A rich sustain is provided, which works for both finger and plectrum playing. With great clarity, the AE305's combination of Sitka Spruce and Rosewood generates a dynamic frequency range from deep lows to sparkling highs. It enhances the versatility of AE to match any playing style, from aggressive strumming to fingerpicking. The fretboard inlay has a delicate but dynamic design. The wooden inlays give a sophisticated feel to the guitar.

The compact, onboard active preamp simply features a mute switch to eliminate unexpected parameter changes during performances. This helps reduce the guitar's size and weight, minimize body contact, and maximize the acoustic tone. The newly designed under-the-saddle pickup equalizes the volume from each string and delivers a well-balanced signal. The natural acoustic tone from this active circuit read more is remarkably stable and resists noise. It will support performances on stage, from solos to ensembles.

I was able to get my hands on one of these a couple of weeks ago from zZounds. I was completely surprised at this guitar. First thing anyone reading this should know is I am not a novice. I have quite a few high end guitars and have been playing for many years. And in many bands. I play everything, acoustic, electric, leads, fingerpicking you name it. I also own 3 Taylor guitars. A GS mini koa, a grand auditorium koa and a limited edition 214 Sitka spruce top and rosewood sides and back. I do like my Taylors very much but needed a guitar that I could use on my jobs that could put out and sound good. This Ibanez does the job much more than I ever thought any non Taylor would. It has EXCELLENT sound and the insides have unbelievable output. Plugged in its sound is balanced and has plenty of volume. Not plugged in I was VERY suprised at its sound. I kept picking up my various Taylors to compare and it has fabulous sound. Very good depth sound. Great action too. Also you get some extras that Taylor charges a fortune for, a wood inlay on the frets and an abalone rosette. Excellent guitar and no different or even BETTER sound than some Taylors. Great buy. Top guitar for a reasonable price.
