Ibanez AC400CE Artwood Acoustic-Electric Guitar

No longer available at zZounds
Crafted from a Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, this elegant concert-shaped acoustic-electric comes loaded with stage-ready Fishman electronics.

The grand concert body shape of the Ibanez AC400, along with the solid Sitka spruce top, delivers player comfort along with enormous frequency range -- wave after wave of shimmering highs along with tight mids and a full-bodied low end. The guitar's full sound is the result of using a solid spruce top with mahogany as a back-and-side material.

A special satin finish treatment to the back and sides means less overall finish is applied to the guitar, allowing it to breathe better. A Fishman Sonicore pickup accurately translates that full sound to whatever amplification system you plug it into, while the Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp provides the extra punch of on-board EQ, and the convenience of an easy-to-read digital tuner located on the upper bout.

A simple, clean, black-and-white multi rosette handsomely appoints the Dark Violin Sunburst high-gloss finished top. Grover tuners ensure smooth, accurate, stable tuning. Cutting edge woodworking technology enables Ibanez's luthiers to reproduce the sophisticated bracing techniques of one-of-a-kind instruments of yesteryear.

While tradition is obviously the hallmark of the Artwood series, the company's decades-long search for the ultimate in acoustic tone has contributed to design alterations that give Artwood a voice all its own.

I have the ac400 light violin burst which is the same guitar as this one except mine does not have a cutaway or electronics. The fret wire is very thin and narrow and low to the fretboard making string bending difficult but there are no sharp fret edges and all -- the frets are pressed in perfectly. The wood on the neck is not dense and that detracts from the sustain the guitar can produce. The tortoise shell binding is stylish. The guitar sounds a little thin on the high strings but the bass has decent sustain. I hope the sound to improve as it ages as the solid spruce top breaks in over time. The tuners are good, open gear grovers. Great guitar for a beginner or even a pro who wants a playable beater. Doesnt come with a gig bag. I bought the non-cutaway model without electronics because I didnt want to spend money on electronics that I will hardly ever use and non-cutaway guitars always sound better unplugged than cutaway guitars as theres an extra chamber.
