The XL Series provides the highest performance at every level. Each cabinet is carefully calibrated and tuned to give you a smooth, balanced response along with an articulate, high-impact attack. Equipped with custom Hartke XL aluminum-cone drivers for maximum response, the XL Series also features high-quality 3/4 in. + 5/8 in. composite plywood construction and a shockproof metal grille. These high-quality cabinets come equipped with a rugged, road-tough covering, interlocking stacking corners, and recessed input jacks to safeguard critical cable connections.

Sound: I was looking for a 2-15 cab rated at 4-ohms with no tweet or horn. I'm 51 years old and have been playing bass since I was 9. I've used Hartke 4-10 cabs before and was impressed with the sound and quality. I am currently in a blues/R&B gig competing with a Hammond/Leslie and the guitarist's 50 watt half stack. I play a Fender P-bass through an Ampeg B2R head. This rig has got all the deep vintage tone I was searching for with power to spare. Just know that if you're gigging the first thing to do as soon as you get it is put casters on it.

"THE BEST RIG EVER!!!!!!!"

Overall: a friend of mine has this cab, the Hartke 4200 cab (4x10) and the Yamaha BBTH500 digital amp head. get all of these for a total of $1550. this cab's lows are so powerful, each vibration has the shockwave of a nuclear bomb. the 4200 (4x10) has the midrange that will have you gasping for air and the highs on the extremely powerful 2 in. tweeter inside a much larger than average horn will be like needles in your ears. the amplifier can produce many different shapes of sound: flat, tube, solid state, R&B, "vintage" (really fat), modern, classic, heavy, drive, distortion, and fuzz. you can do anything with the compressor, there are almost no boundaries with the EQ, and you can save the sounds you have made into a hard drive. the fine print: the 2x15's are only necessary if your bass has 5 strings or more, or if you tune your 4 string bass down to a low C or lower. the 4x10 is necessary only if you slap or play a lot of high notes on the high strings, especially on a 6 or 7 string bass when it comes to the high strings.
