I bought this to have a portable version of my triple rectifier. The little hotone did a surprisingly good job. The tone of the amp was amazingly close to the sound of my actual $2k Mesa amp. The EQ section is very responsive and behaves almost like an actual rectifier EQ in that it's a little hard to adjust but once you get into the "range" that sounds good little tweaks go a long way. With the gain low it does a nice crucnch tone which is very usable but it never gets clean, it stays at least somewhat distorted no matter what. As the gain comes up the teeth come out and it will get super heavy and thick sounding. The amp is fairly loud, especially considering it's size but definitely not loud enough for a band situation. It's great for "spirited" jams at home and for direct recording as it can be plugged right into an interface and does not require a speaker load. The recorded tone was ok but came across a little weak, it's definitely a better "in the room" amp that it is a recording amp. Overall, very impressive for what it is.

Musical Background:
