Just got it today. From zZounds. I've owned a Original 67 500/1 for 25 years. I also owned a 1980's a 1990's and a 500/1 v62 reissue. This bass is just as solid sound and looks wise as all of them. Aside from some minor things like the control panel and tuner keys not being German provided, but I still think are absolutely fine The bass sounds and looks exactly like a German Hofner. I know it has the sustained block, but that's a plus in my mind and doesn't really change the overall sound that much No one could the difference with or with out it.. This bass reminds me of what Japan did for the fenders back in the 80's They were fine instruments and are sought after today. So I will get teacups cause that looks cool. The control panel so far is fine. The black sliders... the German Hofner in the 70's 80's and 90's all had black sliders so that doesn't bother me. The color of the bass is excellent. Just like a German bass. So instead of paying 2,400 I spent 899 and its pretty much the same bass. Just wanted to provide my input to any considering these basses from someone who has own 4 German made ones. Its worth it.Jeff
