With the VASE III sound engine, 96 digital adjustable tone-wheels and a dual-tube preamp, the XK-3c is Hammond's best Pro-Series organ ever.

Get all of the sounds that helped define jazz, gospel, rock, and more in a lightweight package with the XK-3c from Hammond. Weighing only about 55 lbs, this keyboard weighs about the same as any portable stage piano, but comes packed to the gills with classic Hammond sound.

Digital Features, Classic Analog Sound

Hammond dropped the weight by utilizing advanced modeling techniques to move from the analog to the digital realm. Using Hammond's top-of-the-line VASE III sound engine, the XK-3c is so convincing that even seasoned B3 players would be hard-pressed to tell the difference. That means you get all the cool features you would expect from a digital keyboard -- such as the ability to save and load presets, an LCD display, and MIDI input and output -- without sacrificing sound.

Dual-Tube Preamp

While it's true that digital distortion has come a long way over the past fifteen years or so, let's face it: nothing beats the classic, warm, analog sound of real tube overdrive. That's why the Hammond XK-3c also incorporates a dual vacuum tube preamp using 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes. They can be used gently to add a warm, round color to the sound, or they can be overdriven to produce that classic Hammond growl.

Analog Keys, Digital Features

Of course, there's more to any keyboard than just the sound, and Hammond clearly knows this. That's why the XK-3c comes with 73 velocity-sensitive, vintage waterfall-style keys, 12 of which have the classic reverse pattern for loading presets read more on the fly. It also includes a walnut-finished cabinet and classic Hammond drawbars to complete the vintage look.

Whatever your genre, wherever your venue, the Hammond XK-3c has the sound, playability and portability you need.

Hammond XK-3c 61-Key Modeling Organ

The Hammond XK-3c is simply the best Hammond Pro-Series organ ever designed. Deep, rich choral layers are created by the enhanced VASE III sound generator that controls a full compliment of 96 digital tone wheels, each one individually adjustable by two sets of 9 harmonic drawbars, and your favorite settings are easily recalled by 12 reverse color preset keys. It puts you in command of a dual tube vacuum tube preamp that powers your solos way out front with more expression than ever before.

Incredible variations just pour out of the Hammond XK-3c just by overdriving the preamp and working the Leslie rotor breaker, and you haven't even changed a chord! But the keyboard features much, much more like the Advanced Digital Leslie and Scanner Vibrato with even more depth and grind (2-rotor digital Leslie (low/high) with slow/fast/on/off/ and break controls), Split Upper and Lower Vibrato/Chorus switches with 6 position rotary control for vibrato and chorus effects, 8 reverb modes, bass/ mid/ treble EQ, second and third harmonic percussion and key click, pitch bend and modulation controls, assignable controllers for MIDI instruments and modules, 132 programmable patches plus compact flash storage, a backlit 20-character LCD display, headphone out, unlimited polyphony, and 61 vintage style waterfall keys with velocity. All beautifully crafted inside a classic Hammond walnut finished cabinet.

"The Best B3 Clone"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I can't imagine replacing this keyboard for anything else. if you want the Hammond B3 sound this is it. If my XK3c were lost or stolen, I would buy another in a heart beat. It's like having a B3 but only 40 pounds and 47 inches, instead of the original's 450 pounds. I wish the XK3c came with at least a volume pedal. The leslie switch is located close to where most of us had the 1/2 moon switch. Having said that I would suggest getting a foot switch to switch from the slow and fast Leslie. You're hands will be busy enough making drawbar changes not to mention playing.

Sound
The XK3c, in my opinion is as close to a B3/C3/A100 you're going to get without the hugh expense of the real thing. To me it sounds the same if not better than the orignal 'B'. I'm playing through a bass amp but would recommend a Leslie or motion sound amp to make it pure.

Features
The XK3c comes with zero extras. If you want the extras you're going to pay. the lower manual is way too expensive for a MIDI plug in. if you start assmebling the 'kit' the price soon escalates to B3 status.

Ease of Use
The XK3c is extremely easy to use. Everything is right there. If you know the B3 you'll know the XK3c. The big plus is, you can customize the sound to any genre you're playing. Every feature can be tweaked to your tastes. The overdrive feature of the tubes is unique and produces a 70s Deep Puple sound. This keyboard read more is very easy to play.

Quality
The XK3c is very well made. It gives you the feeling of an very expensive piece. Nothing plastic feeling about this keyboard. It does have a little to it, 40 pounds which to me only adds to it's well made feel. fit and finish are great. It is very road worthy. I would recommend a hard case to protect it in travel. I thought a keyboard lid would be a nice touch.Plus it would help to protect the controls and keys. I would have to say this will stand the test of time.

Value
I think this product is worth the price. as long as you don't keep adding kit parts. the stand, foot pedals, lower manual all add up to a big price tag. if your thoughts are to add everything think about an original Hammond.

Manufacturer Support
I have not had any problems or questions, so I can't comment on the warranty/service or dealings with the company.

The Wow Factor
The XK3c has everything the B3 has except for the daunting size. the keyboard feel is great. it's a great stand alone organ or an addition to other keyboards. The waterfall keys give you the action/feel of the orginal B3.
