In honor of the Hagstrom classic Swede, the Hagstrom Super Swede Electric Bass makes a return to the Hagstrom line after nearly 40 years. Featuring a short, 34" scale length, the all mahogany, set-neck Swede Bass offers enormous sustain and easy playability. One of the most important traits inherited from the Swede guitar is Hagstrom's classic tailpiece design with its massive blocks directly coupled to the body for optimal transmission of string energy, a key contributor to the Swede Bass's thunderous, piano-like tones.

Easy-to-use and Easy-to-play

Pickups on the Swede Bass are derived from its not-too-distant cousin, the Viking Bass, and will delight players looking for sonic versatility; from classic to modern, these pickups deliver it all. Include a 3-way tone switch, another genetic contribution from the Swede Bass' brother, and you have an easy-to-use, and easy-to-play source for your next collection of great bass sounds. On top of it all you can coil split the humbuckers to single coil mode, individually for neck and bridge pickups, by a pull on the respective Tone potentiometer knob.

The Swede Bass' classic, single-cut design will be the perfect partner for players looking for superior tone, comfort, and sonic versatility.

This is a pretty nice instrument that I've been playing for several weeks now. Good value for the $1000 USD I paid. Quick delivery too---I received it in two days; kudos to zZounds' sales team. The bass sound is classic, clear, mellow, and the controls make it a little more versatile. My .02 is this is NOT for hard rock or metal. The bass has the classy, thumpy bass sound when I play through either of my two amps--either a 25-watt bedroom amp or 150-watt portable gigging amp. The tones I can get, the quality and finish are all first rate, and I even like the dark reddish mahogany. I'm primarily a plucking player doing worship and classic rock songs. The bass will require action adjustment for some of the individual strings for thumb-slapping style. Effects pedal: I occasionally use only one pedal (SpectraComp bass compression pedal) and it sounds wonderful with it. I can't comment on the support, because I haven't tried it, so middle three stars for them. The only thing on the bass that is missing is an active pickup option--minus one star for that. But I would definitely buy this bass again for playing in a worship or classic rock coffeehouse band or even a jazz band.
