The second I got this cajon I immediately wanted to return it. It sounded Very very cheap. It's made out of plywood however the playing side has a very thin mahogany veneer on it. However I decided to use it as a learning experience and experiment with different ways to play it/change the sound. It came with the guitar string "snares" which is okay; however the most important thing, to me, is the distinction between the "bass" sound and the "snare" sound. It was hardly distinguishable. However I put some electrical tape on the bottom of the snares as well as tightened them quite a bit (comes with an Alan wrench) and decided to bring it to a gig. I was really impressed a how much the sound changed with just those few minor tweaks. I would recommend this as a good cajon to travel with. However don't expect a great sound without making some personal adjustments.

Sound
Surprisingly projects very well. Very bass heavy. Had no issues playing in a 12 piece band. However be very well prepared to adjust the snares when you receive it. Non-playing side has a nice, resonant natural wood sound too.

Features
It's nice that it comes with an Alan wrench to adjust the snares. Also came with a pad that you can sit on with a peel off adhesive. Soft case isn't great; but it's convenient.

Ease of Use
Again going back to the focus o my review: You have to make adjustments. Once you have it spec.ed the read more way you like it, it actually sounds pretty good. Plays well.

Quality
I recieved the product with 2 pretty gnarly dents in it. Not a huge deal for me personally because I like a little character; but I could very much understand frustration. It's made out of plywood. Pretty sturdy. Case is decent.

Value
If you're looking for something a little more professional; I'd spend the extra 40 bucks or whatever on a little nicer one. However if you just want something for light jamming and to tote around I definitely think this is a good deal.

Manufacturer Support
Gave 5 stars because I did not contact.

The Wow Factor
The only thing that I think really makes this cajon stand out from others is the resonance on the lower end. Mine, at least, is very boom-y.
