OK....FINALLY, after initially ordering and Epihone 3 ultra, returning it, getting replacement, returning that one (major design flaw with that guitar), I finally settled on this model Gibson SG. Now I want to say I was weary about this. I had an Epiphone 400Pro SG that was so neck heavy, that it was just not comfortable to play standing up. I tried the 2015 LP Studio and almost went with that, but the wider neck was cumbersome, and it didn't thrill me. I read some reviews on this 2013 model that were good and saw some demo videos....So I pulled the trigger and ordered heritage cherry (of course) and a gator dase. Total came to 800$. Arrived today and I unboxed it. The first thing was the weight! It is so light and balanced, I just couldn't believe it. I inspected it thoroughly and was pleased with the satin finish and craftsmanship. Really something to behold! Instead of fiddling, I went straight to Sacramento Guitar center to see the best Luthier in town Larry. He set it up, restrung it, etc. i plugged it in and it was flat out incredible. The BB 1 & 2 do their jobs and let you know this is definitely a Gibson! Now the sorta bad part. The G string is having trouble being completely intonated correctly. We pushed the saddle back all the way, but its still a small pinch sharp. We're gonna work on it tomorrow, so that should be a non problem by then. The e-Tune thing...I guess it does its job, but it ain't growing on me. Its the first gen of this device, so its still a little...glitchy. read more It works.....its just a little clunky. Taking it off voids the warranty BTW. But other than that, I'm really happy with this guitar. Its a true rocker and a literal comfort to play! I would recommend this to anyone looking for an entry level Gibson in a second. Just remember to plan on taking to a professional for an initial set up, and take some time to learn that E-Tune.
