If you're attracted to the notorious facets of Gibson's original Les Paul Standards -- known for their legendary tone, feel and image -- then the 2014 Les Paul Traditional will give you a great mixture of celebrated historical representation and new 120th anniversary features. Its non-weight-relieved maple-topped mahogany body will resonate your playing in a fashion true to the iconic sound that's shaped the world of music for over half a century. And, with features like Orange Drop capacitors and brand-new '59 Tribute humbuckers, you'll have a lot of new ground to explore when you plug in and play your new 2014 Les Paul Standard.

'50s Rounded Neck and Solid Resounding Body

The 2014 Les Paul Traditional has a non-weight-relieved mahogany body -- meaning there are no lightweight relief chambers. What you have is just a solid body of mahogany wood with a maple top. You'll know what that extra weight is adding sonically when you hear the sustain and resonance as you play. If you're not particularly into the slim taper '60s necks, you'll prefer this baby's thicker glued-in rounded '50s profile neck -- more mahogany in the neck means more resonance and longer sustain. Like the other 2014 Gibson releases, the rosewood fretboard's 22 frets are cryogenically frozen to stand up to wear-and-tear and corrosion, which gives your neck a longer lifespan.

Brand New '59 Tribute Humbuckers

Gibson brings you a pair of brand-new '59 Tribute humbuckers for this 2014 release. What you get read more is that classic PAF sound you'll recognize from Gibson's golden day models of the late '50s. Specifically, these pickups feature Alnico II magnets, and the coils are asymmetrically wound, so you get a beefier, hotter, and more unique sound. A great and crunchy distortion and a raw to sparkly clean tone that can get pretty bluesy will be what you hear when you play your licks up and down the traditionally bound fretboard.

Solid Hardware and Orange Drop Capacitors

The chrome tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar will add better tonal balance and sustain to your already resounding non-weight-relieved mahogany body. Also, solid wiring and Gibson's choice to use Orange Drop capacitors give your guitar's sound a little extra mid-range boost when you roll back your tone knob. In the end, as your signal makes its way through your cable, pedals, and amplifier, you won't have to worry about any signal loss. You can count on your tone being consistent in strength and drive if you choose to include a large pedal board in your chain of gear.
