The Gibson 2013 Les Paul Studio electric guitar is a rock-solid instrument designed to deliver maximum versatility for the needs of a studio musician. But that doesn't mean you can't take it onto the stage at a moment's notice! In fact, it's one of the most playable Les Paul designs on the market, hands down, and handsomely appointed for any situation where you need the power and solidity of a Les Paul.
Flawless Construction Means Flawless Tone
The Les Paul Studio's carved, solid maple top creates tone with an assertive bite. The back is solid mahogany with a classic weight-relieved design, imparting almost endless amounts of sustain and super-pure tone. The warmth and resonance on this instrument is of the same high standard as all Gibson Les Pauls. Its all-mahogany neck is set with a rich brown granadillo fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets that feel fantastic under your fingers. The chrome Tune-o-Matic bridge and vintage-style tuners ensure a tuning stability that is truly excellent.
Updated Electronics with Push/Pull Tone Knobs
In the pickup slots, the Gibson Les Paul Studio has a 490R holding down the neck position and a 498T in the bridge. Utilizing genuine Alnico magnets, these pickups are significantly hotter than the '57 Classics that appear on other Gibson Les Pauls. In short, they were designed to deliver a more versatile and powerful sound for contemporary players. Both pickups benefit hugely from a four-conductor wiring scheme, and each is wired here to their own push/pull knobs for splitting the coils if so desired. This essentially doubles the tonal capabilities of a normal Les Paul, allowing the humbuckers to function somewhat more like single-coil pickups.
A Classic Fast-Playing Neck Shape
The neck on the Les Paul Studio is carved in the classic '60s Slim Taper profile with a 24.75-inch scale length. This is generally the most popular neck profile on any of the contemporary Les Pauls, and satisfies the greatest number of players.
